Leo jolted up. Seeing his wife's furious face, he went pale and scrambled to his feet. "Sophia, please, let me explain..."

Sophia wasn't having it. She charged at him, tearing her LV handbag off her shoulder and swinging it directly at his head. The bag wasn't heavy, but she put every ounce of her strength into the blow.

The metal chain whipped across Leo's face, leaving a stinging red welt. He ducked, throwing his arms over his head in a panic. "Sophia, please! Just listen to me!"

Instead of stopping, Sophia swung harder, forcing Leo to cower defensively.

When she finally ran out of breath, she pointed a trembling finger at him. "Where is the deed to the house? You listed our home with a real estate agent?! Do you have any conscience left? That is our home! Half of the down payment came from my parents! Who gave you the right to sell it behind my back?!"

Leo huddled in the corner of the sofa, his face crumbling. "Sophia, trust me, I'll buy the house back! We just need to get through this rough patch and pay off the debt. I'll work harder, I swear..."

"Liar!" Sophia screamed. "How are you going to do that? If you were actually capable, you wouldn't have fallen for every single scam out there! If you sell the house, where am I supposed to live? On the street? I must have been blind to marry a useless coward like you!" Overcome with grief, she dropped to a crouch, sobbing hysterically.

Warren and Jane watched the scene unfold without moving a muscle. It hurt to see their son attacked, but they knew he deserved it. He needed a brutal wake-up call.

Sophia furiously wiped her tears. "I always believed in you. You promised me stability. You promised me a better life. Why are you so greedy?! Now we're selling the house just to survive! Is it bad luck, or are you just incompetent?! Leo, how are we supposed to survive this?!"

Terrified, Leo collapsed to the floor, his hands trembling as he reached out to wipe her tears. "Sophia, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. It's all my fault. I didn't think it through..."

Sophia buried her face in her knees, her entire body shaking. She loved him, but she was completely utterly broken by him.

"Sophia..."

"Don't touch me!"

"I'm sorry. I'll find a way to get the house back..."

"We're getting a divorce." Sophia stood up abruptly, her bloodshot eyes piercing through him. "Sell the house. Give me my half of the money, and we're done."

"Sophia, no!" Leo scrambled up, desperately trying to stop her.

She didn't give him the chance. She spun on her heel and stormed out, never once looking back.

"Mom, Dad, are you just going to sit there?!" Leo cried, spinning around in a panic. "She's going to divorce me! Please, go talk to her! I know I screwed up, but I'll fix it! I can't lose her, I love her!"
