Finnian stopped, turned back.
"It was Kaia," Elaine took a deep breath. "Kaia recorded her conversation with Noelle. I was so angry when Kaia brought it up last time. She must have recorded it to prove she was right and I misunderstood her."
Finnian's handsome face stiffened, his voice dropping low. "I understand. I'll go talk to Kaia."
"Do you have to divorce?" Elaine suddenly realized Kaia was much better suited to be Mrs. Sanders. Her talent, intelligence, and strength were a perfect match for Finnian.
"Maybe." Finnian couldn't control this; Kaia's mind was made up.
"Sigh, how did it end up like this?" Elaine felt exhausted and heartbroken.
After leaving the hospital, Finnian immediately called Kaia. It rang for a long time before she answered.
"Where are you?" Finnian asked in a low voice.
"Get to the point."
"I want to see you," he said.
"For what? Business or personal?" Kaia sounded unusually cold.
"Personal." His voice grew hoarse. "Where are you? I'll come to you."
Kaia was on her way to pick up their daughter. "Meet me at the school gates. I'm picking up Brynlee."
"Alright."
Half an hour later, Kaia had just parked her car when a black Bentley pulled up beside hers. Finnian had beaten her there.
She checked the time and stayed in the car, as there were still fifteen minutes until school ended.
Finnian's dark eyes flickered. He offered a bitter smile. "Don't worry, you won't be trapped for much longer. The corporate project is going smoothly. It's only a matter of time before it's finalized."
She nodded. "Call me the moment it's done. We'll go sign the divorce papers."
He opened his mouth but no words came out.
"And keep your darling on a tight leash. I was polite this time. If she comes looking for trouble again, I won't hold back."
Finnian froze, then explained, "She's not my darling. She hasn't been for a long time."
Kaia looked at him, gave a mocking smirk, and pushed her door open.
Just then, a black Maybach pulled up and parked right next to her Bentley. It was Simon Quinn.
