Chapter Twelve: The Beautiful Woman
Cassienne forced a small smile as she looked at Tina. “Oh, hi, Tina,” she said softly.
Tina crossed her arms and lifted her chin. “I’m sorry, but this is such a strange surprise. Seeing you here, in a place like this?” Her tone carried a soft laugh as she swung her silky, long hair back. “I don’t know you to be one of those people who socialise.”
She said it on purpose. Tina always wanted to pick a fight with Cassienne, especially when she saw her sitting confidently. But tonight, Cassienne didn’t have the strength or the interest to argue. Her emotions were already too heavy, and she didn’t want Tina to pull her mood down.
Instead of replying rudely, Cassienne simply smiled again, a slow and calm smile. She leaned her head gently on Merrick’s broad shoulder and said, “I am sure you have better things to do, Tina, because honestly… I don’t think anyone cares about your opinion of me.”
The words stung Tina straight to her pride. Her eyes widened in disbelief. She wasn’t used to losing, especially not to Cassienne. Without a word, she turned sharply and walked away before her anger showed too much.
“Oh my God,” Daisy whispered loudly, covering her mouth. “I can’t believe you just sent her away that fast.”
Cassienne finally sat up straight and shrugged, even though her face still carried small traces of the pain she had been fighting all day. “I don’t want her to spoil tonight. She obviously came here to annoy me.”
“Then you handled it well,” Merrick said, giving her shoulder a gentle squeeze. 1
Soon, the waiter returned with their drinks-a bottle of bourbon, tequila, and a few other colourful bottles glowing under the club lights. He poured each of them a glass. Cassienne and her friends lifted their drinks high.
“To a brighter beginning,” Merrick said.
“To a brighter beginning,” they all echoed, touching their glasses together with a soft clink.
At Dreston’s table on the other side of the VIP section, the mood was lighter. He and his friends sat together, enjoying their drinks and talking about business, and random jokes. But Tina wasn’t smiling.
Her mind kept returning to Cassienne. Even with the loud music, she couldn’t stop thinking about her. She kept replaying the scene in her head. The way Cassienne looked tonight… It bothered her.
Tina frowned deeply. Cassienne didn’t look like herself. She looked different-strikingly different. She was wearing a stylish leather outfit that hugged her body perfectly. Her hair, her makeup, her confidence… Everything looked upgraded, almost glowing.
For the first time in her life, Tina realised something shocking.
Cassienne was beautiful. Extremely beautiful.
And it irritated her more than she wanted to admit.
Even though she should be happy that Cassienne planned to divorce Dreston-which should have given Tina more space around him-she still couldn’t stand how stunning Cassienne looked tonight. That beauty didn’t fit the image Tina kept in her mind. It made her feel threatened, jealous and insecure.
A sudden loud noise burst from the dance floor and broke her thoughts. The cheer was so strong that even the men stopped talking. Everyone in the VIP section turned their heads.

Some even stood up and leaned over the glass railing.
They all wanted to see what was happening, and then they saw her.

Right in the centre of the club, under the bright shifting lights, Cassienne and Merrick were dancing. It wasn’t a soft, shy dance. It was bold, lively, almost like a dance competition. The song was a new hit by a popular artist, and the beat filled the room with electric energy.
Cassienne moved with confidence and joy, laughing freely as Merrick twirled her. Some other elites joined the dance because the steps were trending online. Soon the whole centre of the dance floor was a beautiful, moving crowd.
But the cheers?
Most of them were for Cassienne.
Her laughter, her bright smile, her sudden charm-everything pulled attention toward her like a magnet.
Tina felt heat rush to her face. Her cheeks turned red with frustration, and her jaw tightened. She hated this version of Cassienne. She hated how people laughed with her. She hated the applause.
Tina was used to being the one everyone admired… not Cassienne.
And now, Cassienne had stolen that attention effortlessly.
Even worse, Dreston and his friends were laughing and clapping while watching the dancers. Tina stared at Dreston, waiting for him to realise who the woman on the dance floor was.
But he didn’t.
He simply watched, enjoying the scene.
