When Love Finds Its Way Back (Cassienne and Dreston) novel Chapter 154

Chapter One Hundred And FiftyFour: I Need You To Trust Me.

Cassienne had been acting strange ever since she came back from that rooftop lunch with Tina. The words Tina spoke, brought worry, and kept playing in her head like a bad song.

He falls hard when he wants something.

And then her friend’s advice from when they visited her: Guard your heart.

It all mixed together, making her pull away a little. She loved Dreston, deep down, she knew that. But the pain from before, the divorce, the years of feeling alone in their marriageIt made her careful, and scared. So tonight, even as they stepped into the warm bathroom together, she kept a small wall up. Not too big, but enough to feel safe.

The steam from the hot water filled the air. They were both naked, standing under the wide showerhead. Water rained down like a soft storm, warm and soothing.

Dreston looked at her with those grey eyes that are full of love, but also worry. He could tell something was off. Her smiles were smaller. Her touches are lighter. But he didn’t push her.

Let me wash your hair,he said softly. His voice was so gentle. He reached for the shampoo bottle on the shelf. You’ve had a long day. Just relax.

Cassienne looked up at him. Water dripped from his dark hair, down his strong chest. She felt a pull in her belly. It was a mix of want and fear. You don’t have to,she said quietly. But she didn’t move away.

I want to,he replied. A small smile tugged at his lips. Turn around.

She did. And she did it slowly. Her back to him now, the water hitting her front. Dreston squeezed shampoo into his big hands and rubbed them together. Then his fingers sank into her long black hair. He massaged her scalp, in slow circles, firm but tender. His thumbs pressed at the base of her neck, easing the knots from her tense day.

Cassienne closed her eyes. It felt good. And soothing. A soft sigh escaped her lips. Thatthat’s nice.

He leaned closer. His breath warm in her ear over the sound of the water. You deserve this. Every day.

His fingers worked deeper, lathering the soap through her strands. He was careful not to pull. Just gentle strokes, like he was touching something precious.

As he rinsed her hair, water cascaded down her back. His hands followedsmoothing, caring. When he was done, he turned her around slowly. Their eyes met. Water beaded on her lashes. She looked so beautiful to him, so vulnerable, and strong.

Now the rest,” he whispered, as he grabbed the body wash. It was something soft and floral. Lathered it in his palms.

Cassienne’s heart sped up. Dreston

Shh. Let me take care of you.His hands started at her shoulders. It was slow, and slippery. It slides

down her arms. Then up her neck, thumbs brushing her jaw. She bit her lip. The touch was innocentbut not really. It caused heat to build between them.

He moved lower. His palms glided over her collarbone, then down to her breasts. Just a brush accidentally. Her nipples hardened under the warm water and his touch. Cassienne gasped softly. A shiver ran through her. Dreston

Sorry,he said, but his voice was deeper now. Husky.

His eyes darkened as he looked at her bodycurves glistening, skin flushed. He wanted her badly. But he saw the wall in her eyes. And the hesitation too. She was scared he’d hurt her again. He got it. After everything he had done to her. The cold marriage, the divorce. He knew it would take time.

His hands kept moving down her sides, over her hips. When his fingers brushed between her thighs, just a light touch over her most private spot, she tensed. A small moan slipped out. Her cheeks turned pink. Oh

He pulled back a little. I won’t push you, Cassienne. His voice was steady, even as his body screamed for more. We don’t have to do anything you’re not ready for.

She looked at him. Water ran down his face. He was so close, and naked, strong, but holding back for her.

He kept talking, his hands now on her back, with safe, soothing rubs. About usI won’t force you into anything. We don’t have to rush the wedding. We can take things slow. What matters is that I’m a changed man now. I love you so much, Cass. More than I ever knew how to show before.

His words hit her hard. Tina’s voice echoed: Hephant
