Chapter One Hundred And Ninety–Five: That’s Cassienne, Right?”
Dreston stood inside his walk–in closet for a moment longer after asking the question.
“Whose clothes are these?”
The neatly arranged dresses, heels, handbags, and perfume bottles looked as though someone had been living there comfortably. Not temporarily. Not as a guest.
But as someone who belonged there. His eyes moved slowly across the shelves. The scent of a soft floral perfume lingered faintly in the air. He knew that scent.
Or at least… part of him did, but the memory refused to come fully. Dreston exhaled quietly.
Cassienne.
The name crossed his mind almost immediately. But he didn’t say it aloud. Instead, he closed the closet door halfway and stepped back into the bedroom.
Something about the room felt… incomplete. He stood still for a moment, his grey eyes scanning the familiar space carefully.
The large bed, the sitting area by the window, and the bookshelf near the wall. Everything looked exactly as it should.
Yet he couldn’t shake the strange feeling that something was missing.
His gaze moved slowly across the nightstand beside the bed. Nothing unusual. He walked toward the window.
Still nothing. Then he frowned slightly.
“What am I looking for?”
The strange feeling irritated him. It was like trying to remember a word that stayed just out of reach.
After another moment of searching, he finally gave up.
Whatever it was… it clearly wasn’t important enough for his mind to remember. So he turned and left the bedroom.
Downstairs, the house was livelier than it had been when he arrived. Voices carried from the living room.
When Dreston stepped down the final staircase, the first person to notice him was Jessica.
She was sitting on the couch beside Nora, her legs crossed casually while scrolling through her phone.
The moment she looked up and saw him, she jumped to her feet.
“Cousin!”
Before anyone could react, she hurried toward him and wrapped her arms around him in a quick, tight

hug.
Dreston chuckled softly, surprised by the sudden affection.
Then he asked the first thing that came to his mind. “When did you come?”
The room fell silent. Everyone froze. Joseph looked at Abigail. And Sheila stiffened slightly.
Even Nora’s expression changed instantly. Jessica blinked once, then she remembered the conversation they had all had at the hospital.
His memory loss. So she recovered quickly. “You shouldn’t worry about that,” she said with a bright smile. “All that matters is that you’re fine.”
She stepped aside and gestured toward the couch.
“Come. Sit.”
Dreston nodded slightly and walked into the living room.
As he moved closer, his eyes landed on Nora. She looked completely stunned. Her wide eyes stared at him as if she couldn’t decide whether to cry or laugh.
Dreston saw the worried look on her face, so he gave her a reassuring smile. “Nora, I’m fine.” His voice was calm. “I just lost some recent memories.” He shrugged slightly. “Don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine.”
The words seemed to break whatever restraint Nora had been holding. She jumped from the couch and ran toward him.
Before he could react, she threw her arms around him. It was tight. And then she started crying. Dreston blinked in surprise. Then he laughed softly. “Hey…” He gently patted her back. “Why are you crying?”
He tilted his head slightly. “I’m fine. Okay?”
Nora nodded against his chest, though the tears didn’t stop immediately.
“I know,” she muttered. “But it was scary.”
Dreston chuckled again and gently pushed her back just enough to look at her face. “Well, I survived.”
That seemed to calm her a little. Eventually she wiped her eyes and returned to her seat. The
atmosphere in the room slowly relaxed again.
Joseph cleared his throat. “Dinner should be ready soon.”
A short while later, everyone gathered around the large dining table.
Mrs. Rawlings had prepared a full meal to celebrate Dreston’s return home. The warm lighting above the table cast a soft glow across the room.
Jessica chatted casually about her latest tournament. Nora occasionally added something.

Sheila listened quietly, occasionally glancing at Dreston as if trying to read his condition.
For a while, the evening felt almost normal.
Dreston listened to the conversation, occasionally responding when someone addressed him directly.
But halfway through dinner, something happened. A sudden image flashed through his mind. It was so
fast it almost made him flinch.
He saw himself in the kitchen holding Cassienne from behind. His lips brushing her neck. She was laughing, and lightly scolding him.
“You’re distracting me, Dreston.”
The memory lasted barely two seconds. But it felt incredibly real.
