A soft smile touched her lips, and instinctively, her hand moved down to rest gently on her abdomen.
Her fingers lingered there with quiet affection. “Daddy will be fine,” she whispered softly. Her voice carried warmth and certainty. “Very soon he will speak to you.”
She rubbed her stomach gently. “Don’t worry. Very soon.”
It was meant for the little life growing inside her.
But in truth, it was also meant for herself.
Cassienne no longer felt the crushing fear that had consumed her at the hospital.
Now she had hope. And a real one for that matter. Dreston’s memories were already returning in flashes.
Sooner or later, the rest would follow. And when that happened. Tina would become nothing more than a shadow of the past.
Cassienne’s gaze grew steadier. But even if he never recovered everything… Even if those memories never returned…She would still fight. 1
They could create new memories. Even better and stronger ones. She would never back down again. At least, not this time.
Then another thought entered her mind.
Tina.
Her expression hardened slightly.
Yes. There was still something she needed to do.
She needed to speak to her personally. It was time she had to put that woman in her place. And she intended to do it soon. 1
Across the city, inside the Tremont residence, silence had settled over the house.
Dreston lay on his bed staring up at the ceiling since sleep refused to come. He shifted slightly under the
covers.
Still nothing.
His mind refused to settle. At the hospital, sleep had come easily, almost instantly. But now that he is home… 1
Restlessness filled him. It felt like something was wrong, like something was missing.
The feeling unsettled him, because according to the memories he still possessed, he had always slept
alone.

And sleeping had never been difficult for him. He was used to solitude. He preferred it, even. So why was it suddenly impossible to sleep alone now?
Dreston exhaled slowly. His mind searched for an explanation. And only one name surfaced.
Cassienne.
The thought surprised him. He couldn’t believe it. But it’s the truth. Could she be the reason?
He frowned slightly. The idea didn’t make sense. She was his ex–wife. Right?
The version of events he remembered didn’t include any emotional closeness between them. Yet somehow… His body reacted to her presence. His mind reacted to her absence.
He rubbed his temples lightly.
This situation was becoming more confusing by the hour.
Another thought crossed his mind. He didn’t even have a phone. The one from the accident had been destroyed.
If he had one now, he might have called her. Just to hear her voice. Maybe that would calm this strange restlessness inside him.
The realization made him sit upright. He made a mental note. Tomorrow he would ask Steve to replace his phone immediately.
Then suddenly another thought surfaced. Dreston stood up and walked across the room toward the walk- in closet.
The soft lighting illuminated the rows of clothing neatly arranged inside.
His gaze moved toward the section where Cassienne’s belongings were stored.
The sight still felt strange to him. Women’s clothes, shoes, scarves and accessories. All organized carefully inside his space.
He stepped closer.
His eyes moved slowly across the items. He wasn’t looking for anything specific.
He was just… looking. Then something caught his attention. A brown shawl hung neatly on one of the hooks.
Without thinking, he reached out and picked it up. The fabric felt soft between his fingers. Instinctively. he lifted it closer. And he inhaled it.
The scent hit him instantly. And it was familiar, warm and comforting.
His brows pulled together. He knew this smell. He had smelled it before, so many times, yet he couldn’t
