The days that followed passed in a blur. It wasn’t that they felt rushed, but they left her with very little room to breathe. Cassienne hardly noticed the passage of time as her mornings began earlier than usual. Her schedule had doubled or even tripled as she struggled to balance the needs of her company and the demands of the upcoming championship. Meanwhile, her body was carrying a new life and began to demand something she wasn’t used to giving: rest.

She tried to slow down, but it didn’t come easily. Some days she spent hours reviewing documents with her team at home, and on others, she trained quietly to prepare herself for the competition. Even her evenings, which were once moments of calm, had turned into intense strategy sessions. It was exhausting, yet she never complained.

Dreston saw everything, even when she said nothing. He noticed the tension in her shoulders when she worked too long and the way she paused before standing, as if her body needed a moment to catch up. He watched her energy fluctuate, seeing her look strong one moment and fade the next. He stayed silent at first, observing and measuring her limits.

At the same time, Dreston’s own world had shifted. While Cassienne prepared for the spotlight, he turned his attention to the shadows of the internet and the media. Tina had gone silent, and to him, that silence was more dangerous than anything she could have said. He didn’t chase or confront her. Instead, he tracked every subtle movement and unusual shift in the narrative. If she was planning something, he intended to see it coming long before it arrived.

Across the city, Joseph sat with Justice Elena Simpson in a private office. Documents were spread across the table between them, consisting of old records and legal archives that had not been touched in years. Elena adjusted her glasses as she read through a file. She noted that the situation did not seem

random.

Joseph leaned back in his chair, his expression focused, and agreed. Elena closed the file slowly, suggesting that if someone was digging into these records, they were either looking for something specific or had been led there. Joseph’s eyes darkened as he remarked that she hadn’t found the

information on her own.

Elena nodded in concern, explaining that she was still tracing the access points. Once she confirmed the source, they would know how deep the problem went. Joseph leaned forward and told her that when she found it, they would end it right there.

Back at the mansion, the atmosphere was much quieter. Today was different because Dreston had ensured that Cassienne had no meetings or urgent calls. She sat on the edge of the bed and adjusted the sleeve of her soft indoor dress. Her hair was still damp from the shower, and while she looked more

relaxed, a trace of restlessness remained.

I’m fine, she said, even though he hadn’t asked.

Dreston stood across from her, leaning against the wardrobe. I didn’t say you weren’t,he replied.

She looked at him skeptically. But you’re thinking about it.

Dreston walked toward her and spoke calmly. I’m thinking that you haven’t rested properly in days.

Cassienne sighed and pointed out that she had rested the day before, but Dreston corrected her, noting that she had worked through half of it. She opened her mouth to argue but stopped because she knew he was right. He crouched in front of her with a steady gaze and told her that today she was doing nothing.

Nothing?she asked, raising a brow.

Nothing,he repeated.

She studied him for a moment and smiled faintly, telling him he was being very controlling. He insisted he was simply being reasonable. She laughed softly and said that depended on who was being asked. Dreston reached out to brush a stray hair behind her ear and told her to stay home, eat, and sleep. Cassienne looked at him carefully, sensing the care in his tone rather than a command. She exhaled and agreed to stay in for the day.

Later that morning, the house felt unusually calm. Cassienne sat on the couch with a light blanket over her legs while the television played quietly in the background. When Dreston walked in with a tray, she looked up immediately.

What is that?she asked.

Food,” he replied simply as he placed it on the table. He had brought fresh fruit, a light bowl of soup, and

juice.
