Chapter Two Hundred And Forty–Two: These Are Lies.
Two days had passed since the opening match. The energy from the event still lingered in the air, but inside the Tremont mansion, a heavy quiet had taken hold.
Cassienne and Dreston sat together on the sofa in the drawing room, each focused on their tablets. The room was calm, filled only with the soft hum of the air conditioning and the rhythmic sound of fingers scrolling through digital pages. Cassienne had another match to attend that evening, and though she was not playing, she wanted to study her competition. She used these few quiet hours to clear her pending work so she could focus entirely on the game later.
Dreston had chosen to stay home with her. He never said it out loud, but his protective nature was clear. He wanted to ensure she was safe and at peace. They worked in a comfortable, shared silence until the sound of approaching footsteps broke the stillness.
Mrs. Rawlings entered the room with her usual composed posture. “Sir, ma’am,” she greeted them.
Dreston looked up briefly. “Yes?”
“I came to inform you that-”
Before she could finish, the front door swung open. All three of them turned as Tina walked in. She was dressed entirely in black, her posture straight and her chin lifted with a chilling sense of entitlement. She did not hesitate as she stepped into the house, moving through the space as if she owned it. Her confidence was striking and deeply unsettling.
“Good morning,” she said calmly.
Cassienne froze as the air in the room suddenly felt thin. Her expression hardened as she processed the intrusion. How did this woman get past security?
Dreston stood immediately, his face tightening into a mask of controlled fury. “Tina,” he said, his voice dropping into a firm, warning register. “What are you doing in my house?”
Tina smiled slightly, completely unbothered by his tone. “Since you have not been coming to the office, I thought it would be better if we spoke here.”
Dreston’s expression shifted, a flash of something darker crossing his features. Cassienne’s eyes moved quickly between them, her intuition screaming that something was terribly wrong. She stood up slowly, her gaze fixed on Dreston.
“What is she talking about?” she asked.
Dreston felt the walls closing in. This was a nightmare scenario. This conversation was never supposed to happen here, and it certainly wasn’t supposed to happen in front of Cassienne. He looked at her and forced his voice to remain gentle.
“Do you trust me?” he asked.
Cassienne frowned, visibly confused by the weight of the question. “Our relationship has gone past that

stage. Just tell me what is going on.”
“There is nothing you need to worry about,” Dreston replied. “I have some unresolved matters with Tina.
Let me handle it.”
Cassienne studied his face, searching for a crack in his resolve. He gave her a reassuring smile, then leaned forward and kissed her lightly on the forehead.
“Stay here,” he said softly.
Before she could protest, he turned to Tina, took her firmly by the hand, and led her out of the room.
The moment they stepped outside, Dreston released her and turned sharply. “What are you doing? I told you never to come to my home again.”
Tina remained eerily calm. “This is important. You are not in the office, and this matter cannot wait. We will resolve it here.” There was a predatory softness in her voice, a deliberate edge that made Dreston watch her with renewed suspicion.
“What game are you playing?” he demanded. “Regarding your claim, I am still looking into it. I will be finished by next week. Then we talk.”
Tina let out a quiet, mocking laugh. “That would have been convenient, but I am not here for that.”
Dreston’s frown deepened. “Then why are you here?”
Tina glanced around the expansive compound before meeting his eyes again. “We should sit. I have something to show you.”
Dreston held her gaze, recognizing the calculated shift in her demeanor. This was another move in a game he was losing control of. He nodded slowly. “Fine. Come.”
They walked toward the backyard. The swimming pool area was silent, shaded by a large canopy that filtered the morning sunlight into muted patterns. Dreston sat down on one of the lounge chairs and crossed one leg over the other. He did not offer her a seat, but Tina ignored the slight and sat across from him anyway.
Dreston’s expression remained cold. “Speak. And let this be the last time you ever walk into my home
uninvited.”
Tina reached into her bag and pulled out a thick folder. “I think you should read this first,” she said, sliding it across the table. “Then you can decide how you want to speak to me.”
Dreston exhaled slowly, his patience wearing thin. “More fabricated documents? What exactly are you trying to achieve with these lies?”
Tina met his gaze without flinching. “Prove that they are lies, and I will disappear from your life.” Her tone was steady and terrifyingly certain.
Dreston opened the folder and began to flip through the pages. At first, his expression was neutral, but

then his brows drew together. His jaw tightened so hard it looked painful.
“What are you doing?” he asked, his voice lower and heavier with a sudden, sharp dread.
Tina stood up immediately. “Do not raise your voice at me. You will announce our engagement as planned.”
Dreston stood as well, the anger finally boiling over in his eyes. “Or what? You think this will work? You
think I will fall for this kind of blackmail?”
