Aurora froze completely.

Even the assistant near the doorway looked like she nearly stopped breathing.

Corren shook his head slightly afterward as though realizing how abrupt the sentence sounded aloud. “See? I told you it sounded insane.”

Aurora could not even find words immediately.

Marry him?

Her heart began beating harder now. Not because she thought Corren was mocking her. No.

That was the terrifying part. He was serious. Completely serious.

Corren looked at her quietly before speaking again, softer this time. “I’m not asking because of pity. And I’m not asking because of some media scandal.” His gaze never left hers. “I’m asking because I genuinely believe we could build something good together eventually.”

Aurora’s throat tightened slightly.

Corren continued calmly. “I won’t stand here and lie to you about dramatic love stories.” A faint smile touched his lips. “You know me better than that already.”

Aurora almost smiled too.

“But I can promise you respect,” he said quietly. “I can promise honesty. Protection. Loyalty. And whatever honest part of my heart I still have left to give.”

The room became painfully quiet after that. Aurora stared at him while emotions moved heavily inside her chest. And suddenly, another face crossed her mind.

Garrick Richardson.

The man who disappeared without explanation and certainty. He left without choosing her clearly.

That lingering wound still existed somewhere inside her even though she rarely admitted it aloud.

But Corren was different. There was no confusion standing in front of her now. No games. No disappearing. And no emotional manipulation. Just a man standing honestly before her offering certainty.

And somehow, that mattered deeply to her.

Aurora slowly stood from the couch. Corren watched her carefully, waiting, but not pressuring. And for some reason, that patience itself made her trust him even more.

Aurora looked directly into his eyes finally. “You really believe this can work?”

Corren answered immediately. “Yes.”

No hesitation, or performance. Just certainty. Aurora felt her chest tighten again.

A man who protected women instead of destroying them.

A man who respected her dignity enough to stand beside her publicly instead of hiding her.

A man who still cared about protecting Cassienne’s reputation even now. Maybe love did not always begin with

chaos. Maybe sometimes it began quietly.

With trust. Aurora finally nodded softly. “Okay.”

Corren blinked, not believing.

Aurora’s lips curved into the faintest nervous smile. “I’ll marry you.”

For the first time since she met him, Corren Thornwyck genuinely looked stunned. Then slowly, relief crossed his face. Not overwhelming excitement or arrogance. But relief.

Like he truly feared she would reject him. And somehow, seeing that softened Aurora even more.

Corren let out a quiet breath and laughed softly under it. “Well… that went better than expected.”

Aurora finally laughed too despite herself. “You sound surprised.

“I am surprised.” He looked at her carefully. “You actually trust me.”

Aurora held his gaze steadily. “I do.”

The sincerity in her answer visibly affected him.

Corren looked away briefly before reaching for his phone from his pocket.

Aurora frowned slightly. “Who are you calling?”

Corren’s expression shifted calmly back into CEO mode.

“If we’re doing this,” he said while dialing a number, “then we do it the right way.”

Aurora blinked. “What does that mean?”

Corren simply lifted the phone toward his ear. And suddenly, Aurora understood absolutely nothing anymore.

Less than fifteen minutes later, the atmosphere outside the boutique had transformed completely.

Luxury vehicles lined the street.

Media vans arrived one after another. Professional cameras in the air. Microphones in the air, and journalists were scattered around.

Even Aurora’s employees had stopped pretending to work because the entire boutique was practically vibrating with confusion.

Aurora stood near the private entrance staring outside in disbelief. “You organized all this?”

Corren adjusted the cuff of his shirt calmly beside her. “Efficiently too.”

Aurora turned sharply toward him. “Corren.”

He looked down at her. And suddenly, despite the madness unfolding outside. Aurora felt strangely calm beside him.

Corren offered her his hand. “Ready?”

Aurora stared at it briefly. Then slowly placed her hand into his. The moment they stepped outside together, camera flashes exploded instantly.

Questions flew everywhere.

“Mr. Thornwyck!”

“Is the article true?”

“Are you dating Aurora Stephen?”

“What’s your relationship with Cassienne Rhodes?”

“Did Cassienne leave Dreston Tremont for you?”

“Is this a response to the rumors?”

Aurora instinctively stiffened slightly at the overwhelming noise, but Corren’s hand tightened around hers immediately, grounding her.

And somehow, that simple gesture settled her nerves instantly.

Corren stopped near the front steps of the boutique before facing the cameras calmly.

The chaos slowly quieted.

Then Corren spoke. “First of all,” he said evenly, “I would appreciate it if people stopped dragging innocent women into fictional stories.”

The reporters became quieter immediately. Corren continued.

“Cassienne Rhodes is one of my closest friends. She is a good woman, a brilliant woman, and most importantly, a married woman.”

The cameras flashed even harder. Aurora’s eyes widened faintly.

Corren remained completely composed. “Yes,” he continued calmly. “Dreston and Cassienne had difficulties recently. Everyone knows that already. But those issues have been resolved privately between husband and wife, where they belong.”

The entire media line seemed stunned.

Corren’s voice remained steady. “As for me…”

For the first time, he looked directly toward Aurora beside him.

And the look in his eyes made her chest tighten unexpectedly. “The woman I’m with is Aurora Stephen.”

Gasps sounded immediately across the crowd.

But Corren did not stop. “And since people seem so interested in our lives lately…” A faint smile touched his lips. You might as well know that we intend to get married.”
