When Love Finds Its Way Back (Cassienne and Dreston) novel Chapter 34

Chapter Thirty-Four: A Girl He Once Loved As A Child

Cassienne’s car slowed down and finally stopped right in front of Prawn & Lobster Restaurant, one of the most expensive and well-known restaurants in the city. The soft golden lights from the building reflected on the shiny black surface of the car, making the place look even more elegant.

Her new official driver, Felix, quickly stepped out and walked around to the back. He opened the door and held it open politely until Cassienne stepped out.

“Thank you, Felix,” Cassienne said softly as she adjusted her purse on her shoulder. “I’ll call you once I’m

done.”

Felix nodded respectfully. “Alright, ma’am.”

He closed the door gently and remained standing beside the car as Cassienne walked toward the restaurant entrance. Her heels clicked lightly against the tiled floor, her steps were measured and steady despite her heart being anything but calm.

The doorman noticed her and opened the door before she reached it. As she stepped inside, the warm air of the restaurant wrapped around her. Soft music played in the background, and the smell of seafood and spices filled the space.

A female hostess walked up to her with a practiced smile.

“Good evening, ma’am. Do you have a reservation?” she asked politely.

Cassienne returned the smile, though it felt forced. “Yes. I’m here to meet Mr. Tremont.”

The hostess’s expression changed slightly, showing recognition. “This way, ma’am.”

She led Cassienne down a quiet hallway that branched into different private sections of the restaurant. Cassienne’s heart was pounding more than normal as they walked further. They finally stopped in front of a large door. The hostess opened it and stepped aside.

“This is your table. Enjoy your evening,”

Cassienne walked in.

The room was a private dining area, spacious and beautifully decorated. Soft lights glowed from the walls, and fresh flowers were placed carefully around the room. The scent of jasmine and lavender filled the air, gentle and calming.

Her heart clenched.

Those were her favorite flowers.

Dreston stood up the moment he saw her. He looked surprised for a second, then pleased. He walked over and pulled out a chair for her.

Cassienne sat down quietly without saying a word.

Dreston returned to his seat across from her. He immediately ordered a bottle of wine and selected their meals without asking her. Cassienne noticed everything, but she said nothing. 1

She found herself staring at him.

His hair was neatly combed back, giving him a clean and confident look. He wore a black shirt paired with black trousers. The sleeves of his shirt were rolled up to his elbows, exposing his forearms. He looked… handsome. Too handsome.

Her eyes moved over him slowly before she could stop herself.

This was her husband just a few days ago.

The thought hit her hard and caused her heart to flutter.

She had promised herself that she would move on. She had told herself she was done with him. But sitting this close to him, seeing him look so calm and put together, made her heart beat faster.

She quickly looked away and straightened her back.

They were history now. She poured herself drinking water and drank a little to calm herself.

She could not forget him. She knew that. But she could try to move forward. Maybe if she focused on her career, on her work, she could learn how to live without him.

Still, she knew she was lying to herself.

Dreston was the man she had loved since childhood. She had loved him as a little girl, as a teenager, and as a woman. She was not sure if she could ever stop loving him.

But she had to try.

“Thank you for meeting me,” Dreston said.

His deep voice pulled her out of her thoughts. Her cheeks warmed instantly. Had he noticed her staring?

She raised her eyes and met his gaze. His grey eyes held hers, and for a brief moment, the world felt

smaller.

“You look good,” Dreston added.
