Chapter Three Hundred And Forty-Nine: Are You Really Doing This Because Of My Father?
Richardson vineyard has always been known for its beauty and peaceful nature. However, tonight seemed different.
The vineyard itself stretched across acres of land. During the day, tourists often visited to admire the beautiful scenery, sample expensive wines, and enjoy the reputation the Richardson family had built over generations.
Tonight, however, there was nothing beautiful about it.
Inside one of the private buildings hidden deeper within the estate, Garry Richardson sat on a large leather sofa with a dark expression on his face.
Across from him, his uncle paced endlessly around the room.
Donatus Richardson was a tall man despite his age. At sixty-seven, his shoulders remained broad and his posture remained straight. His silver hair was neatly combed back, and his expensive suit made him look more like a respected businessman than a man secretly plotting crimes.
But Garry knew better, because he had spent enough years around his uncle to understand that appearances could be deceiving.
Two heavily built men stood near the entrance of the room.
Neither spoke or moved.
Their presence alone was enough to remind Garry that despite the comfortable furniture and luxurious surroundings, he was not a guest, but a prisoner.
“Uncle.”
Garry’s voice finally broke the silence.
Donatus continued p
pacing.
“Uncle.”
This time, the older man glanced at him.
Garry shook his head. “This is insane.”
Donatus stopped walking.
Then Garry leaned forward. “You can’t keep doing this.” His voice remained calm, but frustration was beginning to show ‘Why do you want to abduct a pregnant woman? For what reason?”
Donatus folded his hands behind his back.
But Garry continued. “Do you think kidnapping Cassienne will somehow fix everything?”
That finally caught the older man’s attention. His eyes narrowed slightly. “Watch your tone.
Garry laughed. And there was no humour in it. “My tone?” He stood from the sofa. “My tone is the problem here
Donatus stared at him. But Garry took a step closer. “Tell me what exactly you think happens after this
The older man remained silent
Garry continued anyway. “Cassienne is pregnant. She’s innocent, and Preston is innocent too. Then generation had nothing do with whatever happened years ago.”
Donatus finally spoke. “Your father’s company must be brought back.
Garry rolled his eyes immediately. “There it is ‘

Garry’s jaw tightened.
Donatus continued. “With her abilities and influence, Richardson Technologies can rise again.” Then his expression darkened.” And maybe she can finally pay for the sins of her father and Joseph Tremont.”
The moment the words left his mouth, Garry lost his patience.
“That is bullshit.”
The room fell silent. Even the two guards exchanged glances.
Nobody spoke to Donatus Richardson that way. Yet Garry didn’t care.
“We both know that’s not true.” His voice echoed through the room. “My father betrayed Joseph ”
Donatus immediately frowned.
Garry pointed toward him. “No.”
“Don’t even try to rewrite history.” The older man’s expression hardened.
But Garry continued. “He wanted something that belonged to Auralink. He wanted a product that wasn’t his. He crossed a line.
Donatus turned away. That reaction alone told Garry everything.
“Look.” Garry exhaled slowly. “Let me go.”
The older man laughed. “You think I am stupid?”
Garry ignored the question. “Let me help fix this. You don’t need to keep escalating things.” Garry told him and continued.” Whatever you’re planning, it’s already getting out of hand.”
Donatus slowly turned around. “There are many things you don’t understand.”
His voice had become softer, but more dangerous.
“So stay out of it.”
But he added. “And as for letting you go? That isn’t happening.”
Garry stared at him for several seconds. Then unexpectedly he laughed. The sound confused everyone in the room, even
Donatus.
“You really think you can keep me here forever?”
Donatus said nothing.
But Garry continued. “My friends will find me.” He was full of confidence. “I’m not some random businessman whe disappeared without anyone noticing.”
Donatus’ eyes narrowed,
“My personal assistant may be helping you now.”
Abriel flicker crossed Donatus’ face.
Garry noticed. But he kept going “Tut sooner or later they’ll find him.” The room her ante quiet
“And when they do?” Donatus asked.
Garry shrugged. “He’ll talk.

The silence stretched, then Garry asked a question. Something that caught Donatus off guard. “Let me ask you something. Are you really doing this because of my father?”
The older man’s expression didn’t change, but Garry kept watching him. “Or are you doing this because of that old man?”
The room instantly became tense. Donatus’ eyes sharpened. “What old man?”
