Chapter Thirty-Seven: Dreston’s Mistress Is Pregnant.

“Gabriel?” Cassienne gasped.

For a moment, her heart stopped beating, and her breath caught in her throat as she stared at the man standing before her. The face was too familiar. There was no way she could not recognise this posture. Everything about him sent a wave of shock through her body.

Gabriel Wyndham slowly removed his dark glasses. His eyes widened the instant he saw her clearly. He froze, as if he had just seen a ghost.

“C…Cassienne?” he called softly, disbelief heavy in his voice. “Is that really you?”

Cassienne did not even think. Her feet moved on their own. She left her seat and rushed toward him. Gabriel opened his arms slightly, and she walked right into them. He pulled her into a brief warm hug. It was friendly, but full of surprises.

When he pulled back, his hands still rested lightly on her arms. His eyes scanned her face, as if he was trying to be sure she was real. His expression changed from surprise to concern.

Cassienne understood that look immediately. Anyone in his place would feel the same. Dreston had been Gabriel’s close friend for years. Even though they had not seen each other recently, Gabriel clearly had no idea what had happened between her and Dreston. 2

Merrick and Corren exchanged confused glances. They had no idea Cassienne knew Gabriel Wyndham personally. To them, this scene was shocking.

Gabriel Wyndham was not just any man. He was the CEO of the entire Wyndham Empire. A powerful businessman. A giant name in the real estate world. His family name echoed across Richbouph and the whole of the Nether-Kingdom. Every serious businessman dreamed of working with him.

Yet, getting an appointment with Gabriel Wyndham was almost impossible. His schedule was always full. His time was precious.

That was why Merrick was completely stunned. When Corren had told him that Gabriel personally called and requested a meeting, Merrick had almost not believed it. Their company had tried many times to pitch their cyber security services to the Wyndham Empire, but they never got the chance.

And now, here he was-standing in their conference room-speaking casually with Cassienne.

“What are you doing here?” Gabriel finally asked, his voice serious with hints of confusion.

The last thing Gabriel remembered was Cassienne working at Auralink with her husband. He still remembered visiting the company once and seeing them together. He could not understand how she was now sitting in a rival company.

Just the night before, Gabriel had received Corren’s number after being told that this company was among the best cyber security firms in the world. For years, Auralink Systems had handled the Wyndham Empire’s cyber security. But Gabriel wanted a change. Something stronger and something more personal.

To him, it felt strange. Almost wrong. In his mind, a wife did not simply leave her husband’s company to

work elsewhere. He would never allow his own wife to do that.

But after a few seconds of thought, he nodded slowly.

That was when he turned to the two men seated at the table.

Merrick stood up quickly and stretched out his hand. Gabriel shook it firmly. Corren did the same, though his smile was tight, his emotions still unsettled.
