When She Rose From the Ashes (Natalie and Jensen) novel Chapter 610

**Chapter 610: Welcome Home**

As Baron sat lost in his turmoil, Ruby and Waylon exchanged worried glances, sensing the weight of his distress. They decided to give him the space he needed, knowing that pushing him further would only add to his anguish.

“You need to tell Natalie all of this yourself when she wakes up,” Ruby gently urged, her voice soft yet firm. “We won’t interfere with whatever punishment she decides to impose. But since she’s out of danger now, why don’t you take a moment to rest?”

Baron quickly shook his head, an expression of determination etched on his face. “No, I can’t sleep anywhere she isn’t. Natalie was taken right under my nose—that was my failure. It led to her being hurt and suffering so much. I won’t leave her side for even a second.”

Respecting his resolve, Waylon and Ruby fell silent, understanding that there was no point in arguing further. After they had carefully moved Natalie to a hospital room and confirmed she was indeed safe, the couple quietly exited the hospital, leaving Baron alone with his thoughts.

Ruby had plans to return home and whip up some nourishing soups, rich in blood-building ingredients, for both Natalie and Baron. She hoped that her efforts would help restore their strength and spirits.

Once alone in the dimly lit room, Baron made his way to Natalie’s bedside, his heart heavy with worry. He reached out, taking her cold hand in his, and a chill ran through him. Despite knowing she was no longer in danger, the haunting fear of nearly losing her lingered like a shadow, causing his eyes to well up with unshed tears.

“Natalie, you have to be alright,” he murmured, his voice cracking with emotion. “Without you, my life will never be complete.”

Natalie lay still, her breathing steady but her eyes closed, seemingly unaware of his presence. Baron remained by her side, holding her hand as if willing warmth back into her body, refusing to leave for two long days, his heart aching with every passing moment.

Finally, the day came when her eyelids fluttered open. Baron’s heart raced as he rushed to her side, his expression a mix of fear and hope. “Sweetheart, do you still remember who I am?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Even though Ruby had reassured him that the drug affecting her had been replaced, anxiety gnawed at him.

Natalie felt a dull ache from her wound, but as she looked into Baron’s anxious eyes, she couldn’t bring herself to tease him. “Baron, you are my husband!” she declared, her voice strong despite her condition.

The moment those words left her lips, Baron was overwhelmed with emotion, tears streaming down his face. “Sweetheart, I love you. Please, don’t scare me like that again, okay? My heart can’t take it,” he sobbed, the relief washing over him like a tide.

As Natalie watched this typically strong and steadfast man break down in front of her, her heart softened. “Okay,” she replied, a gentle smile forming on her lips. “We’ll have a good life together from now on.”

Ruby, witnessing her daughter awaken, felt a swell of joy. Although Natalie’s gaze was solely fixed on Baron, leaving no room for her or Waylon, Ruby quietly slipped out of the room with her husband, content that her daughter was safe.
