When the GF9 Test Subject Became His Obsession novel Chapter 90

“No, Mr. Quartz,” Serena said calmly. “You misunderstood. You can have the teachers re-grade my test and give me a zero across the board if you want.”

Quartz nearly swore out loud.

The others in the room were visibly shaken.

Taylor, who was well aware of the absurd requirements from the higher-ups, darkened his expression. Just as he was about to speak, Celeste jumped in first.

“Serena, if this is your way of blackmailing us into accepting your test score—fine. We accept it. But can you stop making a scene? The Advanced Research Team affects everyone’s future—and the reputation of Haven High. You don’t have to drag us all down.”

The rest of the group looked at each other in confusion. What the hell was going on? Why were they being forced to acknowledge a "cheated" test score?

Quartz had no choice but to explain the board’s ridiculous condition. The moment he did, everything clicked.

What the hell? This bumpkin actually had the power to hold them hostage?

If she didn’t participate, the entire team would be disqualified. Were the higher-ups insane? What kind of rule was this?

All eyes turned to Serena, furious and resentful.

“If there’s something you want, just say it!” Jeremy snapped.

Serena’s expression was cold as frost as her eyes swept the room. “Alright, how about this—each of you writes a thousand-word essay and posts it on the school forum. Compliment me. Make it convincing. If I’m satisfied, I’ll join.”

A mental chorus of you’ve got to be kidding me exploded in everyone’s heads. A hurricane of internal screaming swept through the room.

“No rush,” Serena added. “The weekend’s coming up. You’ll have plenty of time to think it over.”

With a casual wave, she walked out like none of this had anything to do with her.

Everyone else was left in stunned silence.

As soon as she exited the office, Serena dropped a bomb in the Horizon Research Institute’s private chat.

The replies poured in immediately like a waterfall of panic.

“What happened, Sweetpea? Who messed with you?”

“Don’t be mad, Sweetpea. Just say the word—we’ll blow up their house!”

The senior research staff went dead silent, none of them daring to speak.

Eventually, it was Sean who stepped forward and took the fall.

“Sweetpea, thank you for your hard work with the Advanced Research Team. If there’s anything you want, just let us know.”

Serena replied with a single word: “Ha.”

Then she left the group.

Panic set in.

Three senior members scrambled to calm her down. After multiple apologies—and a generous transfer of money—they finally convinced her to come back.

“Did you see the forum? Hayes Corp funded our new nurse’s office! Top-tier medical equipment—better than what they’ve got at Evervale General!”

Kelly had just walked in when she overheard that. Her heart skipped a beat.

First, a $300,000 grant from Hayes Corp. Now, a cutting-edge nurse’s office? It was all for her. There was no doubt about it.

She sat quietly at her desk and opened a textbook.

Peyton bounced over with a grin. “It’s Hayes Corp, you know! I wonder which genius student they built it for this time?”

Kelly kept her focus and turned a page.

“You’re not even curious?”

She tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, revealing her elegant profile. “Mr. Jackson’s coming to Evervale soon. I need to prepare for Hayes Corp’s final round.”

The classroom fell dead silent.

“You made it to the final round?” Peyton gasped.

“What final round?”

“The Hayes Corp summer program! It’s a nationwide selection. I applied too but didn’t even make it past the first cut!”

“Kelly, you’re amazing. Between Hayes Corp and Horizon, you’ve got it all! Even if Serena cheated her way into Horizon’s Advanced Research Team, there’s no way she can fake her way into Hayes Corp. That’s where real geniuses shine!”
