Grace and Spencer entered the ruins for the first time, only to find Mace striding in right behind them. Their eyes met, and in that brief glance, they realized they were all there for the same reason: to find Aran. He had bolted from the clearing, his mind lost, right after he sensed Seraphina had given up her powers.
Silently, the three of them followed his scent deeper into the ruins. It was grander than they expected and the holiness in the air was something else.
“So, this was Seraphina’s, I mean, Blood Petal’s temple?” Grace’s voice trembled, unable to mask the emotions that rushed to the surface.
Mace and Spencer exchanged glances, both of their hearts heavy after knowing the entire truth about the ruins and Seraphina but they quickly steeled themselves.
“Let’s go,” Mace said, his tone sharp as he motioned for them to follow him through a narrow, winding passageway that seemed to stretch into the very earth itself.
“Aran!” Mace called out once they reached the secret chamber. The air was thick with a kind of holiness that made every breath feel heavier. They found Aran sitting on the ground, surrounded by piles of ancient scrolls, feverishly flipping through them.
“Aran, what are you doing?” Grace rushed to his side.
He didn’t look up as he spoke, his breathing uneven, his eyes wild. “Looking for a scroll written in red ink.”
“What’s in that scroll?” Grace asked.
Aran’s voice cracked as he replied, “Honestly, I’ve never heard of a goddess giving up her powers. It’s nearly impossible…but Seraphina did it. I need to understand why. Something isn’t right. She’s doing something and I have to figure out what it is.”
Mace and Spencer exchanged a glance listening to him before silently squatting beside Grace, joining her in their frantic search through the scrolls.
“I also find it strange that Ryker could mark the Luna when she’s already marked by the Lycan King,” Mace murmured. “I mean, can someone even be marked twice?”
“True,” Spencer agreed, his voice thoughtful. “I’ve never heard of anyone being marked twice. Plus, Seraphina is already marked by a Lycan–how could a werewolf’s mark possibly overpower that? It doesn’t make sense, right?”
“A werewolf mark is no close to a lycan’s mark,” Mace confirmed.
Grace nodded, “Something is off,”
The three of them exchanged stunned glances, the weight of the thought settling in the air.
Aran glanced up at them, pausing for a moment seeing how sharp all of their mind worked. “Where are

your Alphas?” he asked, his voice strained.

and Alpha Darious,” Grace murmured, her eyes scanning the
“When I turned around, Alpha Asher and Alpha Finn were gone too,” Spencer added, still focused on his search.
A heavy silence followed as no one spoke. After a beat, everyone’s gaze shifted to Mace, who was still absorbed in his search. Mace felt the weight of their stares and paused for a moment, letting out a long breath. “Don’t ask me, guys. I don’t know anything. You all were there when he woke up with that look in his eyes…” his voice faltered in fear and murmured, “Even his scent was gone when I turned around.”
Mace and Spencer nodded in understanding. Aran blinked, looking at all three of them. The Alphas had left their children with him. He shook his head, and continued his search. Just then, Spencer’s voice cut through the quiet.
“I found it!”
Aran’s head snapped around, his hands reaching out. “Show me!”
As Aran opened the scroll, Grace, Mace, and Spencer crowded around him. They all leaned in, desperate to understand.
“I can’t read it,” Grace muttered, frustration evident in her voice.
“It seems to be a language Blood Petal created,” Mace offered, glancing between Aran and the scroll. “I believe you can
read it,”
All eyes were on Aran, whose wide eyes mirrored the gravity of what he was about to read. “What does it say, Aran? Does it say what Seraphina is doing?” Mace asked, his voice tight with anticipation.
Aran’s breath hitched as he read, his grip tightening on the scroll. His voice shook when he whispered, “She…is performing a ritual!”
At the same time, in Ryker’s palace, fury burned in his eyes as Seraphina’s words sliced through the tension in the Grand Hall. When she called him a mere dark magic user, it wasn’t just her statement, it was the way her words echoed in the silence that made everyone freeze. While it wasn’t exactly a secret and everyone present in the room were fearful of Ryker’s dark magic and had come to save their own lives, hearing it spoken aloud by a woman, especially one marked by him, sent a chill through the room.
One of the Alphas spoke up, his tone sharp with disbelief, It’s truly amusing that you would call the Alpha King that considering you’re already bearing his mark.”
“Mark?” Seraphina blinked innocently, her slander finger pointing at the mark on her neck as if noticing it for the first time. “You mean this dog bite?” she said with a casual flick of her finger, her smile widening as she watched the blood drain from their faces. “It was just part of a bargain I made with this dark magic user in exchange for saving people dear to me from his evil. That’s it. I protected my people, and I paid him with a bite. Don’t mistake a trade for something disgusting.”
Percy’s frown deepened as he stepped forward, trying to calm the situation. “Luna Queen, I think-

“It’s Seraphina, not your Luna Queen,” she cut him off coldly, her amber eyes locking onto his, pinning him in place. “Remember that.”
The air in the room seemed to freeze at her words, the tension palpable. Ryker growled lowly from his throne, his voice a rumble of warning. “Seraphina…come here.”
She didn’t flinch. Her gaze didn’t waver. With a smile, she stepped forward, crushing a black rose beneath her heel. “You’re only sitting on that throne because I refuse to come to you, Ryker Wraithe,” she said, her voice dripping with disdain. She turned, ready to leave.
Ryker’s temper exploded in an instant. The room watched in shock as a violent wind whipped through the hall. In the next moment, the throne was empty, and Ryker was already behind her. He grabbed Seraphina by her hair, spinning her around so sharply that her head snapped back.
“SERAPHINA!!” he roared, his eyes ablaze with rage.
Seraphina raised an eyebrow, unflinching. “What?”
Ryker clenched his jaw, his breath coming in ragged gasps as he fought to maintain control. He growled, his voice low and dangerous, “Obediently follow me and take your seat.”
“Or what?” Seraphina’s voice was steady, her expression blank. “Are you going to kill me?”
Ryker’s eyes darkened, “Are you challenging me, darling?” he pulled her face even closer to his, his blue eyes glaring deep into her screaming danger.
Seraphina’s lips curled into a small smile. “Yes,” she whispered, her voice a low, defiant murmur.
He slid both of his hands down onto her throat and growled dangerously in her face, “Don’t underestimate me, darling,” a cruel smile appeared on his lips too, “You think you can act bitchy since you protected the people in the realm from my dark magic? No, my little flower. I get that it was a smart move but you can’t escape me. I will marry and mate even your corpse if I have to,” he pressed his grip down on her throat.
“Then what are you waiting for?” Seraphina’s smile widened, making his falter as she slid her own hand on top of his hand and squeezed her own throat. “Do it quickly, Ryker,” an insane look came over her beautiful amber eyes as she whispered inching closer to his lips, choking herself completely, “I am waiting
Her entire face flushed red under his furious gaze as she kept choking herself using his hands. Ryker ripped his hand away from her throat just in time. The Alphas in the room shifted uncomfortably. witnessing the intense exchange. Seraphina’s laughter suddenly broke the silence, sharp and unsettling. It echoed through the Grand Hall like a stone thrown into still water, sending chills down everyone’s spine.
“Can’t kill me?” Seraphina tilted her head, her grin widening. “How pathetic.”
Ryker’s jaw clenched, he shook her throat again and squeezed her throat as he yanked her closer, his face a mask of fury. “Are you provoking me to kill you, Seraphina?” His voice was low, thick with rage, but his smirk never wavered. “You think you can escape me with death, my little flower?”
“Escape?” Seraphina’s smile vanished, and her gaze darkened as she met his eyes, unwavering. “From the place where I’ve always wanted to end up?”

The words struck Ryker like a physical blow. He stilled, his grip faltering slightly as the weight of her declaration sank in.
