Sitting by Alpha Gideon’s grave, Alpha Hugo, rested with a bottle of wine in hand. The grave was blanketed in a sea of flowers, covering every inch of the headstone.

“Man, you lived in a way that made thousands envious, and not even in death have you stopped making them jealous,” Hugo chuckled, clinking his glass against the grave. “I see you were waiting for me, though I’m two months late,” he added, his smile softening as he spoke to his late friend.

When Alpha Hugo awoke from his coma, his first instinct was to bring his best friend his favorite wine, not the tears Gideon had always expected.

Hugo sighed deeply, murmuring, “The air in the werewolf kingdom has shifted, Gideon. It’s a pleasant change. The realm is breathing again, blooming, rising.” He glanced at the distant building that seemed to disappear into the sky, finally completed. “We have an Alpha Queen now,” Hugo whispered, a proud smile forming. “The true ruler of the realm.”

A sharp gust of wind swept over him, and he looked at Gideon’s grave, a soft chuckle escaping his lips. “Even you can’t contain your happiness, can you?”

The toll of a bell reached Hugo’s ears, and he stood up, leaving the wine glass on the grave as a final tribute.

As he entered the Grand Hall, the male and female heirs stood in two rows, their eyes following him. But Hugo’s gaze immediately shifted to the raised platform at the front, designated for the Head of the Academy. His thoughts turned to the note Alpha Queen had left him by his bedside, the note that had given him a reason to rise again.

“Don’t let it end with Alpha Gideon, Alpha Hugo. He wouldn’t want you to give up.”

He walked to the center of the platform, his presence commanding the room. The heirs from all the werewolf packs were watching intently.

“I, Alpha Hugo Williamson, the Head of the Elysium Ascendant Academy, welcome you all,” he announced, his voice strong with renewed purpose.

In the temple, Lily reviewed the report in her hand with a smile. “I knew Alpha Seth Darven was kind and wonderful, but I never expected him to not only accept all the she–wolves from Alpha Darious‘ pack but also declare himself the Alpha of all the female pack members.”

struck by the tense atmosphere in the living area. Silas and Aran sat across from each other, Silas glaring at Aran while Aran smiled back.

“You, the bride’s brother?! Don’t make me sick!” Silas‘ jaw clenched tightly at Aran’s suggestion.

Silas and Aran had been involved in the wedding preparations, with all the protectors actively decorating the temple for the new bride. The guests were about to arrive and both of them were making sure everything was going perfectly.

However, Aran’s recent proposal had gotten under Silas‘ skin.

Aran grinned, unphased. “If not brother, then how about the bride’s father?”

Silas’s lips curled into a dangerous, furious smile. “Don’t even think about it.”

Aran’s smile only deepened. “Why? Afraid I’ll steal your spot in her life?”

Silas locked eyes with him, his gaze cold. “Yes, whether father or brother, it will always be me. There can’t be two. And no one can remove me from her life.”

Aran rested his chin in his palm, an amused look crossing his features. “Oh…I can remove you.”

Silas raised an eyebrow, a mocking chuckle escaping his lips. “Remove me? How? Don’t tell me you’re dreaming of killing me?”

Aran scanned him up and down and just stared at Silas. The more he looked the more Silas shifted uncomfortably. The silence, the eyes, the unspoken answer only made Silas‘ fury grow until Silas grabbed Aran by the throat. “You fucking dare to mess with me again?!”

Aran smirked, completely unbothered, offering no resistance. He never planned to be father or brother, just provoke Silas.

Startled by the scene, Lily took a cautious step forward, her

eyes wide.

“Umm…” Lily began ready to speak, but before she could a hand grabbed her and pulled her out of the room.

She gasped, looking up in surprise to find Theo standing before her, the youngest of Seraphina’s protectors. While the protectors had rebuilt the temple on their own, many saw it as the Alpha Queen’s grand palace. For those who knew the truth, it was the temple. The protectors were aloof and cold, which made it difficult for Lily to understand them, especially since, as Seraphina’s female Beta, she handled the kingdom’s affairs. So, Theo pulling her away came as a surprise. After all, he was the one who would steal glances at her whenever speaking to Seraphina, only to then avoid her like the plague.

“It’s not advisable to be around them when Silas and Aran are together in a room. Theo murmured softly.

Lily leaned in, her curiosity piqued. “Why?”

Theo’s face flushed as their proximity grew closer. He fell silent, simply staring at her.

“What’s wrong?” Lily asked, blinking in confusion.

Theo quickly averted his gaze, almost as if trying to hide his face. “You don’t need to know,”

Lily narrowed her eyes, a smirk creeping onto her lips. “Seems like you don’t know. Well, I’ll find out on my own.” She turned to step back toward the room, but Theo yanked her back.

She gasped as he pinned her gently against the wall, his face dangerously close to hers. “They don’t know how to be gentle with women. So don’t be around them or any men,” he whispered, his breath brushing her lips.

Lily’s heart raced at his flirtatious gaze. “If you keep talking like that, I might think you’re interested in me.”

Theo’s ears turned crimson. He quickly pulled away, his voice slightly strained. “You read too much into things.”

Lily glanced down at his hand, which was still gripping hers, and smiled. “Do I?”

Theo walked ahead, taking her away as a secretive smile curling on his lips, his finger trailing absently over her hand as he looked over his shoulder at her. “Wanna be my partner for the wedding?”
