When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 808

Evander didn’t dare say another word.

Evelina was clearly dissatisfied. “Lucian, the child I’m carrying is Evander’s. I’m certain of it.”

Asher’s voice was icy. “That’s enough, Evelina. The only reason you were allowed to stay here was on the condition that you wear mourning clothes and pay respects to my parents every day. Now go do it.”

“Asher, my stomach doesn’t feel well!”

Evelina had no intention of doing such a thing.

Asher shot her a cold look. “If you refuse, then move out.”

“Asher, how can you treat us like this? You were never like this before.”

Evander couldn’t understand how Asher had changed so much.

Asher looked at Evander, disappointment heavy in his eyes. “Evelina’s father was responsible for our parents’ deaths. Now she’s conspiring with outsiders to embezzle funds from the company. If it weren’t for you, I would have sent her to the police long ago!”

Just looking at Evander left Asher feeling suffocated.

He used to think Lemira was the one holding the family back, always siding with outsiders.

But now, it was clear Lemira was truly exceptional.

The real burden was Evander—he was actually marrying the daughter of their enemy.

Frustrated, Asher stormed into the living room and drained his glass of water in one go. He’d been in meetings all day, without a moment’s break.

In the end, Evander didn’t want to leave, nor could he.

He turned to Evelina. “Go change and come down for the ceremony.”

“Evander, my stomach hurts. What if something happens to the baby?”

“I’ll take you to see a doctor. I won’t let anything happen to the baby.”

Evelina still felt terribly wronged.

Lucian spoke up from the side, “Honestly, if something happened to the baby, it might just be for the best.”

After realizing what he’d just said, Asher’s expression grew uneasy.

Lucian glanced over. “So, you do know, Asher. I thought you didn’t have a clue. Haven’t you ever felt guilty for blaming Lemmy all these years?”

A chill ran down Asher’s spine. He couldn’t even bring himself to look at Lemira.

Lucian seized the opportunity. “Asher, you should apologize to Lemmy.”

Lemira sneered. “That’s not necessary. I don’t care.”

“Lemmy, Asher genuinely realizes he was wrong.”

“You really think I still care about any of you at this point? I honestly don’t. Whether he apologizes or not, it makes no difference to me.”

Lemira’s expression was distant, and Lucian felt his heart sink. He turned to Asher. “Asher, how long are you planning to stay in the wrong?”

Asher looked up at Lemira, his eyes full of conflict. “Lemira, I really didn’t mean it back then… I…”
