When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 107

Henrietta’s heart gave a little jolt as she stopped. Was this it? The quick reversal she’d been bracing for? Well, whatever it was, she was ready.

She turned back. “Yes?”

Yosef stepped forward and gently cupped the back of her neck. Henrietta looked up, confused, just as the impossibly handsome man leaned down and pressed his lips to hers. Her eyes widened in shock. He didn’t deepen the kiss or make any other move; he simply held his lips against hers. They were cool and soft, yet firm. It was a sensation she couldn't quite define, but strangely, she felt no revulsion.

Joaquin’s eyes nearly popped out of his head. What the hell? They were… kissing? Right in front of him!

Henrietta’s mind reeled. This was happening in public, in front of everyone—especially in front of Joaquin. She didn’t dare move. Technically, this was her first real kiss.

Joaquin could only stare, utterly speechless.

After a moment that felt like an eternity, Yosef pulled back, straightening up. Henrietta was still trying to process what had just happened when the cool, handsome man turned his head to look at Joaquin and said, “This is your answer.”

The words were a fatal blow to Joaquin, a sniper shot straight to the head. He took a deep breath, unable to utter a single word in response.

Henrietta finally came to her senses, but she too was at a loss for words.

Yosef looked down at her. “Go inside and put something on your wrist.”

“Oh,” she managed, her face growing warm. “Right. I’ll go in now.”

“Mm,” he affirmed.

Henrietta hurried away, her heart pounding in a strange, chaotic rhythm. A kiss? Just like that?

Yosef watched until she was safely inside the estate, then turned to the Sargent family’s guards. “You can all stand down.”
