When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 146

He hadn’t even reached the legal age for marriage, yet he already had a child. He was young, and with his roguishly handsome looks, it was clear why he had a certain appeal.

Henrietta couldn’t fathom his motives. After a moment of thought, she asked, “What’s your angle? Aren’t you all family? What, you want to take Matteo down and become the star yourself?”

Leon might have come from nothing, but he certainly had the looks for it. Why bring this up now, acting as if he was revealing some great secret?

“No, I don’t care about acting,” Leon said. “As for my motive…” He stood up and walked toward her, then dropped to his knees.

Henrietta recoiled, utterly baffled. Why was he kneeling?

Leon looked up at her, his Adam’s apple bobbing. “My motive is you.”

She froze, a wave of cold shock washing over her. She couldn’t believe the words she was hearing.

“Spell it out,” she commanded, her voice sharp. “Stop being so dramatic.”

“Don’t you understand?” he asked, his voice earnest. “Henrietta, I want to be with you!”

The declaration shattered Henrietta’s composure. She was so stunned it took her a full minute to process his words. When she finally did, fury erupted within her. She kicked him squarely in the chest.

“Are you out of your mind?”

Leon stumbled back but wasn’t deterred. “I’m serious! I mean it!” he insisted with a delusional confidence.

Henrietta was shaking with rage. “You’re a married man with a five-year-old son. What kind of garbage is coming out of your mouth? Get out! Get out right now!”

“No, listen to me,” he pleaded. “I can get a divorce immediately. I can give up the child!”

“It’s true, you have to believe me,” Leon urged. “If you don’t, you’ll suffer terribly. If you need proof, I can record something for you tonight.”

“Are you writing a novel?” Henrietta retorted. “I don’t believe a single word. In fact, maybe I should tell Matteo that you came here trying to proposition me and slander him.”

“I’m not slandering him!” Leon panicked.

“I don’t care. I don’t believe you. Videos and recordings can be faked. Besides, he and I have already broken up. We’re nothing more than an employer and an employee. Everything you’ve said is incredibly damaging to him. If it got out, you would destroy his career and cause immense losses for my company. Once his reputation is ruined, not only will I lose every penny I’ve invested in him, but the company’s credibility will be destroyed along with him.”

Henrietta picked up her office phone. “Send a couple of security guards in here. Take Leon to the lounge and lock him in.”

Leon’s face went white. “Why won’t you believe me? Every word is true! How can you be so foolish? Are you just going to let him walk all over you? You’re still planning to elevate his career? Henrietta, you will regret this!”
