When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 183

Yosef let out a cold smirk. He saw right through her.

Predictably, Jethro said, “An apology is fine, but kneeling is unnecessary.” His voice was noticeably agitated.

Henrietta watched in silence. This Artina was a real drama queen, an expert at sowing discord. Now that Jethro was here, Yosef had only demanded an apology, dropping the kneeling part. He was clearly showing Jethro some respect. But Artina’s move to kneel wasn't out of genuine remorse; it was a calculated act to show Jethro that Yosef had demanded it of her earlier.

“That’s always been my rule. Didn’t you know?” Yosef said flatly.

Jethro took a deep breath. “Fine. Then I’ll apologize to Henrietta on Artina’s behalf. And I’ll drink until you’re satisfied, alright?”

“You want to defend your woman. That’s admirable, and I have no objection,” Yosef replied. “Go ahead.”

Yosef's answer stunned everyone, including Henrietta. He wasn't giving an inch, not even for his own brother.

While shocked, Henrietta also felt a deep sense of warmth and security. To be defended so fiercely, without regard for anyone else’s position, was a powerful feeling.

Jethro squared his shoulders. “Fine.”

Artina quickly grabbed his arm. “No, Jethro, don’t! How can I let you do this? It’s my fault, and I’ll take responsibility!”

Henrietta, thoroughly disgusted by Artina’s performance, finally spoke. “Jethro, that won’t be necessary.”

Jethro paused, turning to look at her. “Henrietta…”

Henrietta remained seated, her voice calm and cool. “I didn’t know Artina was your fiancée before this. We’re all family, so let’s just end it here. We’ve already wasted enough of everyone’s time and ruined the party. There’s no point in dragging this out.”

Jethro had previously shared Leticia’s prejudice against Henrietta. But after their last encounter, Henrietta hadn't complained. In fact, when Yosef asked, she had spoken well of Jethro, a fact Yosef had later relayed to him. Now, her willingness to drop the matter was the best possible outcome. He had worried she might insist on a showdown.

She had waited until he offered to apologize for Artina before stepping in. It was a clear signal: the courtesy was for him, a gesture of respect because he was Yosef’s brother. She clearly had not forgiven Artina.
