When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 184

Henrietta nodded and glanced at Winona and Charlotte, who stood up as well.

“We’ll leave with you,” Winona said with a smile.

Once Yosef’s party departed, the drama was officially over, leaving the hall full of employees with a whirlwind of emotions.

Henrietta was married! As the sole heiress of the Sargent family, she was already beautiful enough to be the object of everyone's envy. But on top of that, she had married Yosef Nash, the head of the world's most powerful conglomerate!

One might assume it was a loveless business arrangement, a way to maximize profits after a failed relationship. But the way he acted… it was anything but loveless. He was handsome, powerful, and ridiculously wealthy, yet he treated her with such devotion, refusing to give even his own brother an inch when it came to defending her. It was enough to make anyone despair!

Artina felt the same despair, but amplified a thousand times. Her face was ashen, her entire demeanor fragile and broken, as if she were moments from coughing up blood.

She had been so sure she had surpassed Henrietta, certain she would make her beg for mercy. She had it all planned out: once her relationship with Jethro was more established, she would sow discord between the Nash and Sargent families. She would make it seem like Henrietta was bullying her, causing a rift between the two houses. Then, she would destroy the Sargents, driving them out of Juno City. Once Henrietta was stripped of her heiress status, what would be left of her pride?

But now… the true patriarch of the Nash family had married Henrietta. That meant even if she married Jethro, she would forever be crushed under Henrietta's heel.

She couldn’t accept it! She wouldn't! Why did Henrietta always win?

Artina felt a familiar rage boiling up, but she forced it down.

“Jethro,” she said, looking pitifully at him. “My friends are still in trouble.”

“I know,” Jethro said, standing. “Say a few words to your colleagues.”

Artina’s face flushed. She mumbled a few words to the colleagues, telling them to enjoy the rest of the evening, then quickly pulled Jethro away.

Once they were gone, the room erupted in chatter. No one was about to abandon such a lavish feast, so they all stayed to eat.

Matteo, however, had no appetite. He looked utterly defeated, as if he had aged ten years in an instant. “She’s… married…” he muttered. “When? Why? Didn’t she love me the most?”

Jolie watched him with concern. “Bro, let’s go home.”

She gave Leon a look, and together they helped a devastated Matteo out of the hall. He seemed completely broken by the news.

Matteo had never imagined Henrietta would marry someone else. Did she… really not want him anymore? He had always believed she was just throwing a tantrum, that deep down, she still loved him and would eventually come back. He never thought…

Leon, too, felt a bitter pang. He had also harbored fantasies about Henrietta. Even after being beaten half to death, he hadn’t given up.

Some men, it seemed, would always believe they were destined to be the chosen one.
