When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 201

Henrietta paused for a moment before replying, “Alright, I understand.”

Yosef’s tone was cool, but his words were laced with a gentle reassurance. “Don’t worry. We need to evaluate Jethro’s fiancée, and this dinner is the perfect opportunity to see what she’s really like. They’ve only been engaged for a short time and haven’t spent much time together. If she’s not a good person, I’ll talk to him. I doubt Mom would allow someone unsuitable into our family, either. It's just that she's the girl he's been hung up on since childhood, the one I mentioned during our video call. Since he chose her and he's fond of her, Mom has been a bit more indulgent.”

“I see,” Henrietta nodded, then asked, “But why is she the one he’s so hung up on? Do you know the reason?”

“I haven’t asked for specifics,” Yosef replied. “I’ll ask him when I get a chance later.”

“Okay,” Henrietta agreed. “I’ll see you later then.”

“See you later.”

Just as Henrietta was about to hang up, Yosef’s voice came through again. “Henrietta, aren’t you going to give your husband a kiss?”

His question made her blush. She lowered her voice and made a soft kissing sound into the phone.

Yosef chuckled. “It’s not quite the same as in person. I’ll collect a proper one when I pick you up after work.”

Embarrassed but pleased, Henrietta murmured a soft, “Okay,” before adding, “I’m hanging up now.”

With that, she ended the call.

Yosef smiled at his phone before setting it down. As he turned to Calvert, his smile vanished. “Did you find anything?”

Calvert nodded. “I had someone check the hospital archives in Juno City for the last five years. There are no records of Henrietta being admitted. But honestly, this is very difficult to trace.”

Yosef’s voice was icy. “I pay you to solve problems, not to present them to me.”

Calvert broke into a nervous sweat but pressed on with the truth. “Mr. Nash, a woman of her status would likely take precautions for something like an abortion. She would probably use an alias or not even have the procedure done locally. If she used a fake name at a Juno City hospital, the records would be untraceable. To be thorough, we’d need to review the security footage, but that’s typically only stored for one to three years.”

While paper records could be kept indefinitely, video storage was limited.

Seeing Yosef’s stony silence, Calvert continued, “And if she went out of town… it would be even harder to track. It’s possible, of course, but it would require an immense amount of resources and, most importantly, time. We might not find anything for months, maybe even half a year.”

“The main problem is the sheer volume of data and the lack of specific information,” Calvert added. “If we knew when and where the procedure took place, it would be much easier.”

Her friends were still recovering in the hospital, miserable and sick. Fortunately, Jethro had given each of them one million dollars as compensation. Coming from less prominent families than Artina, the sight of the money quickly lifted their spirits.

Zelina had instructed them all to come to the family estate for dinner that evening. Jethro had come to the apartment to tell Artina in person, worried about her fragile emotional state and wanting to comfort her.

When Artina learned they were going to the estate for dinner, and that Yosef and Henrietta would be there, a look of fear crossed her face.

“If I go, won’t Yosef and Henrietta be upset?” she whispered timidly. “Yosef was so angry last night. I’m afraid he’ll give me a hard time again if he sees me tonight.”

Her pitiful, anxious expression was genuinely moving.

“He won’t,” Jethro said gently. “It’s over. Yosef has already delivered his punishment. You don’t need to be afraid; he’s not an unreasonable person.”

Soothed by his gentle words, Artina nodded obediently. “Okay.”

But inside, she was seething. Was Zelina summoning them to dinner just to put her in her place?
