When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 205

Henrietta was so cold and rigid, always acting high and mighty, completely incapable of being soft or vulnerable. Even Matteo, who had been with her for five years, eventually grew tired of it. A man like Yosef, who stood at the pinnacle of power, would surely tire of her in a year or two at most.

Artina’s smile widened. She had stolen Matteo, and she would steal Yosef too. Yosef, Jethro, Matteo… they all had their charms. She liked them all and she wanted them all.

After leaving the bathroom, she returned to the living room.

Jethro, of course, was oblivious to her sordid thoughts. He watched her approach with a gentle and steady gaze, but just as he was about to speak, his phone rang.

It was Yosef.

Jethro answered. “Bro?”

“Where are you?” Yosef asked.

“Bro, I’m at one of the Y-N Group villas,” Jethro replied.

Yosef raised an eyebrow.

Jethro chuckled. “I got a villa for my girlfriend. You don’t mind, do you?”

“Do as you please. You don’t need my permission for that,” Yosef said dismissively. “But… is it for that Artina person?”

“How many other girlfriends do I have?” Jethro countered with a laugh.

Yosef rubbed his temples, his gaze cool. “Tell me what happened between you two when you were children. What made you so infatuated with her?”

Jethro recounted the story to Yosef. When he finished, Yosef said, “Even so, my opinion from last night stands. Your fiancée is a questionable choice.”

Jethro, still glowing from his passionate kiss with Artina, felt a surge of annoyance. He stepped away, lowering his voice. “That’s just your opinion. To each their own. You might not see anything special in her, but I think she’s wonderful.”

“Then your judgment is poor,” Yosef stated flatly.

“Love is subjective. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” Jethro shot back. “It’s like how you see the good in Henrietta. For a man of your stature to overlook her romantic history, it’s the same way I see the good in Artina.”

That struck a nerve with Yosef. “Are you comparing your fiancée to Henrietta? Our families have known each other for generations. We know her character and upbringing. Even if we weren’t close before, we had a fundamental understanding of who she is.”

“And you think that’s enough to guarantee anything?” Jethro retorted. He then relayed what Artina had told him. “Henrietta still has feelings for her ex-boyfriend. You should be aware of that.”

Yosef tossed his phone onto the desk in frustration. “That boy is so disobedient! Last night’s setup was so obvious, but he’s acting like he’s been bewitched. What kind of person orchestrates a scheme like that?”

Calvert, standing nearby, ventured, “He seems to be genuinely fond of that Artina Harmon. Love can be blinding. It’s not just women who get swept up in it. Perhaps… even if Ms. Harmon isn’t a good person, Mr. Jethro is willing to overlook her flaws.”

This only angered Yosef further. “You marry a woman for her virtue. A bad wife can bring ruin to a family for generations. Overlook her flaws? Does he think that unconditional tolerance makes him a good man?”

“They’ve only just gotten together,” Calvert offered. “They’re likely in the honeymoon phase, only seeing the good in each other. With time, Mr. Jethro’s perspective might change.”

Yosef took a deep breath, his expression hardening. “And he has the audacity to criticize Henrietta.”

Calvert blinked. “Is that what’s really bothering you, Mr. Nash?”

Yosef reached for the pack of cigarettes on his desk, pulled one out, then put it back. “He said Henrietta still has feelings for her ex-boyfriend.”

“That’s impossible!” Calvert insisted. “Henrietta is no fool. You’re an exceptional man; her ex can’t possibly compare. She must be in love with you!”

Yosef fell silent.
