Jethro glared at Henrietta. "I never thought you could be so petty and vindictive. Artina already told me about the abortion rumor. She only did it to help someone she admires, and for that, you've held this grudge, refusing to let her go, haven't you?"
Henrietta was speechless. "Do you think your opinion of me matters? Let's be clear: she came to my office. I didn't go looking for trouble with her!"
"She came to you to beg for mercy!" Jethro shot back. "And instead of showing any grace, you hit her. Henrietta, does Yosef know you're this kind of person?"
Henrietta scoffed. "Yosef would only be worried that my hand hurts. And another thing, do you have any idea what she said to me right before I hit her?"
Jethro exploded. "I'm not interested in knowing!"
Henrietta took a deep breath. "Fine." She pointed toward the door. "Then please leave. This is my office!"
Clearly not wanting to argue further, Jethro supported Artina and turned to go. As they left, Henrietta muttered, "There's no use trying to save a man who's determined to ruin himself."
"What did you say?" Jethro snapped, turning back.
Henrietta met his gaze coldly. "Since you're so clouded by emotion and determined to defy the world for love, then you can bear all the consequences yourself."
Jethro just snorted and left with Artina.
Henrietta felt her head spin with anger, finally understanding what Yosef must have felt last night. She never imagined Jethro could be so blinded by love. Artina could feed him any story, and he'd believe it without question.
Jethro put Artina in the car and drove directly to the Yos-Empire Group headquarters. Artina was still crying, dabbing at her tears and the blood from her nose with a tissue, but a strange thought occurred to her. She was injured. Given how protective Jethro was, why hadn't he asked if she was okay? Before she could dwell on it, Jethro spoke. "We're going to Yos-Empire Group."
Artina's eyes widened. "To see Yosef?"
Jethro nodded. Artina's hand, still dabbing at her nose, froze. She left the blood where it was.
When Jethro arrived at Yos-Empire Group with Artina, Yosef was about to start a meeting. He had Calvert postpone it for Jethro's arrival. But he hadn't expected Jethro to immediately start complaining. "Henrietta hit Artina," Jethro announced.
Yosef frowned, then raised a cool eyebrow.
"Look, Yosef," Jethro continued, "she hit her so hard her nose started bleeding."
Yosef's voice was glacial. "And? You came here to tattle on my wife? What do you want me to do? Make Henrietta apologize? Or... let you hit her back?"
Jethro knew Yosef was being sarcastic.
He looked at Yosef earnestly. "Yosef, we're family. We've always been close, never had a serious argument. And now we're like this, all over a woman."
"Say whatever you want. I have to marry Artina," Jethro insisted.
Yosef was speechless. He rubbed his temples, remaining silent for a long time. Finally, his expression calmed. He looked at Jethro. "Have you thought this through?"
Jethro's resolve was firm. "I have."
"Fine," Yosef agreed. "If you're so determined to marry her, I'll grant your wish." He turned to Calvert. "Have someone from the marriage registry come here to process their paperwork."
Calvert was taken aback and instinctively tried to intervene. "Mr. Nash, isn't this... a bit rushed? Perhaps we should wait a little?"
"Calvert, what business is it of yours?" Jethro snapped.
Calvert fell silent.
"Go," Yosef commanded.
"Yes, sir," Calvert conceded.
Jethro let out a breath of relief and looked at Artina. She was completely bewildered. What? She was... going to marry Jethro? Become his legal wife? A wave of excitement washed over her, and her lips began to tremble.
