When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 244

This was supposed to be Charlotte and Winona's first time having a meal with Yosef.

Henrietta composed herself and made the formal introductions.

Winona and Charlotte greeted Yosef warmly and politely.

Yosef responded in kind.

Sensing the somber mood, Charlotte said, “This is actually a good thing, isn't it? We finally have a chance to expose her. We should be celebrating, not moping.”

Henrietta nodded in agreement. “You're right.”

Yosef also agreed, adjusting his mood before looking at Henrietta. “What did you say to Jethro?” “I told him the whole truth,” Henrietta replied.

Yosef raised an eyebrow. “Aren't you afraid he'll talk?”

Henrietta frowned slightly. “If I didn't tell him, Artina would just keep feeding him excuses and lies, and he might have been fooled again. He has feelings for her, after all. So I had to tell him. He promised he wouldn't say anything, and I... I believe him.”

What else could she do but trust him?

Yosef looked at her, moved. He knew how much she wanted to see her plan through.

But with Jethro as an unexpected variable, she was actually willing to consider compromising. Just then, Winona offered, “I don't think Mr. Jethro will stop you. The more hurt he is, the less likely he is to get in your way.”

“He said he needs time to think,” Henrietta replied.

Everyone fell silent.

After a moment, Yosef looked at Henrietta and suddenly asked, “Henrietta. By not saying anything earlier and letting things escalate, didn't that also benefit your plan?”

Yosef's question made Henrietta and the others freeze.

Winona and Charlotte didn't dare to speak.

To put it bluntly, Yosef was calling her out.

He was suggesting that her delay was part of her 'calculation.'

Henrietta met Yosef's gaze directly. “Are you saying this was all part of my plan, Mr. Nash? That I deliberately manipulated the situation and used Jethro?”

Yosef's lips thinned, but he remained silent, his expression cool.

Henrietta took a deep breath. It seemed he was still angry and thought she was being manipulative. After a moment's thought, she said, “If someone tells you a plate of food is spoiled and even gives you proof, it’s not nearly as impactful as taking a bite yourself. However, I didn't intentionally manipulate anything. First, I was genuinely afraid he would stop my plan. Second, I was waiting for him to discover for himself that Artina was no good. I just didn't expect them to move so fast. One minute they're dating, the next they have a marriage license.”

“But if you believe I'm a manipulative schemer, Mr. Nash, then I have nothing more to say.” Henrietta spoke with a cool detachment while calmly eating her food.

It was as if she didn't care if Yosef thought she was manipulative.

It was as if she didn't care if this caused a fight or drove a wedge between them.

Winona watched her, thinking that even if Yosef suggested they separate over this, Henrietta would... probably not care.

They never expected him to be a man of such broad perspective and insight.

After being thrown out, Artina was practically hysterical.

She couldn't believe the marriage license was fake and that Henrietta had obtained a video of her at the hospital.

In an instant, her dream was shattered, her gravy train derailed.

She couldn't wrap her head around it.

She refused to leave, waiting right outside the restaurant until she saw Jethro emerge.

It was only then she realized... just how gentle and good Jethro had been to her.

“Jethro, darling!” She cried, rushing forward.

But the bodyguards with Jethro shoved her away, and she nearly fell to the ground.

“It's not true, darling! Henrietta framed me!” Artina screamed, unwilling to give up.

Jethro stopped.

A flicker of hope ignited in Artina. She scrambled to her feet, tears streaming down her face. “I knew it! I knew you believed me!”
