When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 245

Jethro looked at her coldly, as if staring at a dead person. “Do I look like a complete idiot to you?” Artina froze. “No! But she really did frame me!”

“Still lying through your teeth, even when you're caught red-handed,” Jethro said coldly. He turned to his bodyguards. “Take her. Find a clinic. A quick test will settle this, so she can't keep crying about being framed.”

Hearing this, Artina's face went deathly pale, and she nearly fainted.

She stumbled backward in terror.

Jethro stepped forward. “Scared? Feeling guilty? I'll take you myself. You say the hospitals are bought? We'll find a clinic. And if you still think a clinic can be bought, we'll find some small-town doctor in the middle of nowhere. A simple exam is all it takes.”

“No... I...” Artina's tears fell even faster. “But by doing this, you're doubting me! You don't trust me!”

Jethro couldn't be bothered with her. He felt disgusted. He turned and got into his car.

Watching his resolute departure, Artina was heartbroken.

So what if she was pregnant?

She could just get an abortion!

The fact that she was willing to be with him even while pregnant proved how much she liked him, wasn't that enough?

She never said she was going to keep the baby.

And yet, he was just leaving.

Was all that gentleness and care a lie?

How could he turn on her so quickly?

Just as the car was about to pull away, Jethro suddenly said, “Wait”

The bodyguard paused. “Put her in another car,” Jethro commanded. “We're heading to the countryside”

The bodyguard was confused but obeyed. “Yes, sir.”

He got out to grab Artina. Realizing what was happening, she panicked and tried to run, screaming, “I won't let you doubt me! Getting me checked means you don't trust me!”

It was useless. A bodyguard swiftly administered a quick sedative, knocking her unconscious, and tossed her into the car.

The drive from Juno City to the surrounding rural towns took about three hours.

Halfway there, Artina woke up to find herself bound and gagged with a black cloth.

She struggled frantically, but it was no use.

Seeing a bodyguard raise his hand to strike her again, she went still.

Panic seized her. Was there no escaping this?

Why was Jethro so insistent on getting proof?

Of course Jethro needed to confirm it himself.

Or rather, it wasn't about confirmation.

The evidence Henrietta had provided was already irrefutable, and she probably had more.

Jethro's real fear was that if he didn't corner Artina with undeniable proof, she would immediately rush to get an abortion and then claim she was never pregnant in the first place.

In that moment, Artina was consumed by regret, but it was too late.

Her pregnancy was confirmed.

“No! Wait, wait,” Artina scrambled off the bed, pushed the bodyguard aside, and rushed forward desperately.

She fell to her knees at Jethro's feet, sobbing uncontrollably. “Darling, please, let me explain!”

Jethro looked down at her coldly. “Still calling me darling? The license was fake! Don't flatter yourself! Or was making a complete fool of me not enough? Are you not satisfied with how thoroughly you've played me? Artina! How could you be so audacious?”

Jethro roared the last words, his voice raw and filled with heart-wrenching pain.

His eyes were red, glistening with tears.

Artina was both terrified and shocked.

She never imagined Jethro actually had real feelings for her, that he cared so much he would... cry? “You should have never accepted when I proposed the arrangement!” Jethro bellowed, his eyes bloodshot and burning with rage.

“But you accepted immediately! Even if you claim this happened before me, why did you accept? Why didn't you deal with it first?! If you had, I might have been able to see it as something from your past. I might have even forgiven you! But you... you are utterly vile”' Overwhelmed by emotion, Jethro kicked out, his foot striking Artina's shoulder. “Get lost!”

She tumbled to the ground.

“No! No, it's not like that! Let me explain, I... I want to explain it to you!”

Artina cried so hard she could barely breathe.

Jethro fought to control his crumbling rage. “Fine. Explain.”
