Henrietta's eyes widened. She kicked her rolling office chair back, barely dodging the attack. In that same split second, Winona lunged forward and shoved Jolie with all her might.
Jolie crashed to the floor. The vase shattered, sending shards of ceramic flying. A piece sliced open her hand, and blood began to pool on the polished floor. Just then, the security guards burst in. Seeing the scene, they immediately moved to surround Jolie.
Her dreams in ruins, Jolie was consumed by a humiliated rage. "Get out of my way!" she shrieked. "Henrietta, I swear, it's you or me today!"
She was hysterical. The guards quickly grabbed her as she struggled, her hand still bleeding profusely.
Henrietta watched her, her voice as cold as ice. "You got yourself into this mess and ruined your own career. How is that my fault? Go ahead, find someone to complain to. Go ahead, take it to social media. See if you get a single ounce of sympathy."
The calm in Henrietta's voice seemed to penetrate Jolie's frenzy for a moment. "It... it really wasn't you?" she asked, her rage faltering.
"I suggest you go to the police," Henrietta repeated. "If they find out it was me, you can come back and settle the score. In the meantime, you're fired. Get her out of here."
Jolie's eyes widened. "Wh-what? Why are you firing me? I... I didn't do anything!"
Henrietta stood up and walked slowly toward her. Jolie was held fast by the guards, unable to move.
"After a scandal like this, I was never going to invest in you anyway," Henrietta said, her voice low and cutting. "But then you attacked me. If I hadn't moved, if Winona hadn't pushed you, that vase would have hit me in the head. And you say you didn't do anything? You think I'd keep you in this company after that? Are you an idiot, or am I?"
"I... no, I just... I lost control for a moment, Ms. Sargent... I was just..."
"Take her away!" Henrietta interrupted sharply. "Escort her out of the building, and make sure she never sets foot in here again." She then looked at Winona. "Notify HR. She's terminated, effective immediately."
"Got it," Winona nodded.
Jolie completely lost it, thrashing against the guards' grip. "I'm not leaving! You can't fire me! I... I'm going to be a star! I am a star! What are you doing? Let me go! I'm a huge star... hahaha, a huge star! Let go of me! If you don't, I'll kill you all!"
"I'm a star! A-list!"
By the time the guards dragged her out, Jolie was a limp, babbling mess on the floor.
Winona called for a cleaner. After the broken vase and blood were cleared away, she remarked, "She was really desperate to be a star, wasn't she?"
"She's not the only one," Henrietta said. "But I painted her a very vivid dream. It's no surprise she broke when it disappeared."
"Serves her right," Winona said. "She was never a good person. Just yesterday she was trying to get Joaquin to invest in her."
Henrietta raised an eyebrow.
"Joaquin is not that stupid," Henrietta said confidently. "He wouldn't invest in her."
"You think so?"
