When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 296

Henrietta was silent.

Her expression turned cold. “I mind very much. Get out.”

So young, and already such a smooth-talker.

But Aster Leland didn’t seem to mind. On the contrary, he smiled. “Of course, Henrietta. I’ll leave right away. Whatever you say, goes.”

And with that, he actually turned and left.

Joaquin loosened his collar and sat down.

Henrietta turned her glare on him. “What is your brother’s problem? If he’s got a screw loose, he should check himself into a hospital.”

“He does have a screw loose,” Joaquin agreed easily. “Just ignore him.”

“Both of you are harassing me,” Henrietta said, her face still a cold mask. “Mr. Leland, my patience is wearing thin. I don’t care what kind of game you two are playing, but after today, I expect you to cut it out.”

Joaquin scoffed. “We’re just pursuing you. How is that harassment? We’re just stopping by, sending some flowers… we haven’t done anything to actually bother you. Ms. Sargent, why take it so seriously?”

“You are not welcome here,” Henrietta stated flatly.

“You don’t need to welcome us,” he replied. “You can just pretend we’re air.”

Henrietta was completely speechless. She decided to simply stop talking, to give him the silent treatment.

But Joaquin wouldn’t let it go. “I just did you a huge favor, Ms. Sargent. Is this how you repay me?”

Henrietta looked at him. “What favor?”

“Your ex-boyfriend’s sister,” he said.

“You took those indecent photos?” Henrietta frowned.

“Not me,” Joaquin said. “I just put the word out that she was about to make her debut. Paparazzi are like sharks smelling blood; they’ll always find a way to cash in.”

He had washed his hands of it so cleanly.

He then added, “But it still helped you, didn't it? I could tell you had no intention of promoting her.”

Henrietta didn’t speak for a moment. Strictly speaking, he was right. It had helped her. While she could have strung Jolie along, Jolie's temper meant she would have eventually caused a scene. She might have even taken to social media to cry for attention and sympathy. Henrietta had, after all, promised in front of the entire company to make her a star.

If Jolie made a public stink about her broken promise, Henrietta had ways to handle it, but it would be a hassle. It would also stir up gossip and malicious speculation. And if the public figured out the real reason, it might put Artina and Matteo on high alert.
