Yosef didn't seem to mind. “It's just a name. I'm older than you, too, so what's wrong with it?”
Henrietta's frown deepened. “I don't like it.”
Being a man, Yosef didn't seem to notice the shift in her mood. “If you don't like it, then don't.”
Henrietta said nothing more.
Yosef kissed her earlobe. “Henrietta, are you... unhappy?”
Though he couldn't fully grasp her emotions, he sensed that she did seem upset.
At his words, Henrietta opened her eyes. After a few seconds, she finally said, “No.”
In reality... maybe... she wasn't really unhappy?
And what if she was?
Could she order him not to work with Britney?
When she said no, Yosef believed her.
But he added, “We agreed... to be respectful of one another.”
So he didn't want her to be unhappy because of Britney.
Henrietta stiffened for a moment, then finally said, “Yes, I know.”
Yosef’s kisses deepened, and his hands began to wander, to explore.
Henrietta was exhausted, and her mood was far from good.
But for some reason, she didn't resist.
It was as if... she also wanted to prove something with this intimacy.
Prove what?
That he belonged to her?
Perhaps... that was it.
The next day.
After they got up and dressed, Yosef began, “Henrietta, about the research facility…”
Before he could finish, Henrietta cut in, “I know. It has to be kept secret.”
“Yes.” Yosef nodded.
Everyone has a possessive streak. Even without feelings or love, once something is yours, it's yours.
You don't want, nor are you willing, for anyone else to have even a piece of it.
But which one it was, she... couldn't quite tell yet.
Yosef released her and kissed her lips. “I'll drive you to the office.”
In the car, Henrietta asked, “You're not going back to Fiora?”
Yosef replied, “Now that I'm back, I'll stay for now. Britney is still over there.”
Henrietta nodded. “So, you'll be busy with this from now on? It's not over yet, is it?”
Yosef said, “Of course not. We have to wait for the man to immigrate back. That will take some time, and there are things to arrange in the meantime.”
He didn't mention what specific arrangements needed to be made.
Henrietta nodded. “I see.”
So, it seemed this was a kind of “covert rescue operation.”
Simply put, they were putting on a show for the world, a bit of misdirection to achieve their goal in secret.
