As luck would have it, the photo captured the exact moment she and Quinton locked eyes.
Henrietta naturally knew about their shared glance.
What she hadn't realized was that long before that moment, Quinton had been staring at her with a gaze full of unwavering, deep affection.
Henrietta's brow furrowed deeper as she looked at Yosef. "Who sent you this?"
"Britney," Yosef answered directly.
A wave of sheer disbelief washed over Henrietta. Her tone spiked with involuntary irritation. "How did she even get this? Did she know I was at the bridal boutique? Is she stalking me?"
Yosef met her gaze. "She just happened to run into you. She was only looking out for me."
With that, he tapped the screen of his phone.
The photo disappeared, revealing his chat history with Britney.
Below the image, Britney's messages read: "Yosef, I ran into Henrietta and Quinton."
"Quinton was looking at wedding dresses. Is he getting married?"
"Is that his fiancée in the middle?"
"She's pretty! But why was Quinton staring at Henrietta the whole time?"
"If you didn't know better, you'd think they were the ones getting married."
"Yosef, I know they're raised as siblings, but they aren't biologically related. You... might want to keep an eye on things."
Britney had typed out quite the paragraph.
On the surface, from an outsider's perspective, her words were completely flawless.
As his amicable ex-girlfriend who had transitioned into a friend, it made perfect sense for her to warn him upon seeing something like this. There was nothing technically wrong with her concern.
One couldn't even accuse her of intentionally throwing mud at Henrietta.
Henrietta stayed quiet for a moment before shifting her gaze back to Yosef. "She certainly cares a lot about you. You must be deeply touched."
The world was never purely black and white.
You couldn't just eliminate everyone you didn't get along with.
Yosef remained silent.
"He hasn't done anything inappropriate to me," Henrietta continued. "And now he is willingly stepping into a marriage. Isn't that enough?"
But as the words left her mouth, she paused.
If she put herself in Yosef's shoes... couldn't he say the exact same thing?
He could easily argue that his past relationship with Britney ended amicably, and they were simply friends.
They were only tied together now because of crucial business and political interests. Could anyone really blame him for that?
Henrietta took a deep breath. It seemed that once you shifted your perspective, neither of them was truly at fault.
