Henrietta took two days off to rest at home.
Matteo, due to his injuries, had to temporarily halt filming on the show he was shooting with Artina.
According to the security guards at her gate, he had been standing outside the Sargent estate for the past two days.
"Let him wait if he wants to," Henrietta said dismissively.
He had also called her phone incessantly during that time, but she maintained her strategy: don't answer, don't decline, don't block. Just let it ring. Sometimes the ringing would go on for half an hour, even an hour straight. Listening to it, Henrietta felt no annoyance, only a faint, satisfying thrill. She hadn't bothered to read any of the messages he'd sent. This was just the beginning of his atonement.
On the third day, Henrietta told Winona to notify the staff to return to work the next day.
Winona posted the announcement in the company group chat, stating that attendance was mandatory for all employees, including artists and their teams who were currently on projects. A company-wide meeting was scheduled to announce something important.
Meanwhile, Holly had called Sabrina, suggesting their children meet for dinner. If they got along, she said, the Lelands would be happy to proceed directly to an engagement or even a wedding.
Henrietta was having breakfast the next morning when Sabrina brought it up. "What do you think? When would be a good time?"
Henrietta raised a delicate eyebrow. "This weekend is fine."
"Alright," Sabrina nodded. "I'll make the arrangements."
Quinton, who was also at the table, gave her a long look.
After breakfast, Henrietta and Quinton walked to the garage together. As she was about to get into her car, Quinton stopped her. "You just broke up. Are you really moving on to an arranged marriage this quickly?"
Henrietta paused by the car door. "Should I mourn for a few months before considering it?"
"That's not what I mean," Quinton said. "I just mean…"
Sabrina had only been able to have one child. Complications during childbirth had left her unable to conceive again. So, Hector had adopted the orphaned son of a close friend—Quinton.
Quinton had always been exceptional. He excelled in his studies, was remarkably capable, handsome, and had impeccable character. The Sargent Group was currently managed by him and Hector. Henrietta never doubted his integrity or suspected him of wanting to usurp the family business.
However, she had a nagging feeling that ever since she started dating Matteo in college, Quinton's feelings for her had shifted. She wasn't certain, but she kept a proper distance just in case. She only felt sisterly affection for him, nothing more.
She didn't want their relationship to change or for any unexpected complications to arise. An arranged marriage seemed like the best way to prevent that.
When she arrived at the company's parking garage, Winona and Charlotte happened to pull in at the same time. Henrietta got out, and the three of them walked toward the building together.
At the entrance, Henrietta looked up at the sign. "Have someone change the company name."
It was a bitter reminder. She had established this film production company specifically for Matteo.
