Chapter 135 My Legally Wedded Wife
He hurriedly wrapped her in the clean coat that had been tossed aside and picked her up again.
Isabelle leaned against his blazing hot chest and raised her head slightly.
Blaze…
Isabelle tried to struggle free from his embrace, but she was too numb with cold to muster any strength.
“Put me down…” Her voice was choked and fragmented.
Blaze said nothing, heading straight for a room in the back courtyard.
Aurora and two other women who happened to be passing by saw this from a distance.
They couldn’t help but whisper among themselves.
“Mr. Wilder is known for being upright. To think he’d be carrying a woman like this in such a setting.”
“Did you see? That woman is wearing Mr. Wilder’s coat.”
“Isn’t that the woman who was with Mr. Cross?”
Aurora clenched her fists, watching them. She quickly took out her phone and called Damian.
She said, “Dami, I just saw Isabelle being carried off by a man in the back courtyard.”

Damian had just finished seeing off the last guests with Maddox. He answered the call, but didn’t respond, then hung up and rushed over.
He strode hurriedly toward the area. “Where?”
Aurora quickly led Damian upstairs in the back courtyard. The two women, eager for drama, followed.
“I think it was here.”
“Yes, right here. We saw Mr. Wilder carrying a woman just now…”
Damian looked down and saw drops of water on the floor, leading all the way to a doorway.
Blaze?
Somehow, Maddox had arrived, too. He’d heard the situation from a maid in the garden on his way and rushed over.
Maddox glanced at the people gathered and knocked on the door.
No answer from inside–he knocked again.
Damian clenched his fists. His heart clenched with each passing second.
The door slowly opened.

Everyone outside was stunned then.

Blaze stood there, steam still rising from his skin, a pink towel slung low around his hips, water droplets clinging to his hair.
Seeing the group at his door, a lazy smirk touched his lips. “Come to catch someone in the act?”
“Mr. Wilder? So it is you,” one woman remarked, surprised.
Damian’s eyes, heavy with tension, fixed on Blaze through the half–open door.
Maddox asked calmly, “Mr. Wilder, what are you doing in Sienna’s room?”
Blaze glanced at Aurora, sneered, then looked back at Damian. “And what are you all doing?”
Damian had no patience for this. He pushed the door open forcefully. “My apologies.”
Just as he was about to barge in, Sienna peeked out from under Blaze’s arm.
She revealed a bare shoulder and hair that was still damp. “Hi.”
Everyone was taken aback.
Blaze and Sienna?
How could it be them?
Where is Isabelle?
Blaze swallowed hard and pushed Sienna’s head back into the room.
His voice was low and rough. “Anything else?”
Maddox couldn’t afford this scandal. He quickly grabbed the door handle and shut the door. “Everyone, disperse. Show’s over.”
He herded everyone downstairs.
What kind of night is this?
One thing after another. It’s never–ending.
Damian turned his head and looked at Aurora.
Aurora took two steps back, glancing at the two women beside her. “Dami, I really did see it. They saw it, too. I only called you because I was worried about your wife.”
Wife? Maddox’s gaze snapped to Damian.
He asked bluntly, “Isn’t Isabelle your kept woman?”
How did she become his wife?
Damian’s face darkened instantly. He looked like he was grinding his teeth.
This was the first time he’d heard something like that from an outsider.

Kept woman? Who the hell spread that rumor?

Aurora was too scared to speak, having forgotten Damian’s previous warning that isabelle wanted to keep things private. “I’m sorry, Dami…”
Damian shot her a sidelong glare.
Seeing the terrible atmosphere, Maddox quickly shooed everyone away.
They all took the hint and left.
Aurora mumbled more apologies before scurrying off.
Damian, face like thunder, pulled out his phone, opened a picture of their marriage certificate, grabbed Maddox by the back of the neck, and shoved the screen in his face.
He stated, “Take a good look. She is my legally wedded wife. Who told you she was my kept woman? Hmm?”
Maddox’s jaw practically hit the floor.
If they were legally married, why did they act like strangers at the company gala?
Is this… a secret marriage?
“My apologies, Mr. Cross. I truly didn’t know.” Maddox apologized profusely.
Damian put his phone away, roughly releasing Maddox. He then tried calling Isabelle.

Maddox rubbed his neck. That was close–I almost had my neck wrenched off.
If not for Damian and Isabelle stepping in with the Ronan and Lenora situation, the night would have been even more of a disaster.
Now, knowing Damian’s true status, Maddox felt an even greater sense of awe and respect for him.
Just then, Sienna called Maddox.
Maddox paused, then said to Damian, “Ms. Foster is in Sienna’s room.”
