White Omega?

It’s a new day, but I can’t stop thinking about what Travis said. Then walked away like he’d planted a seed and was just waiting for it to grow. He definitely said part of the information, hoping for me to reach out to him so I could ask for the
rest.
And now I’m really doing that.
Right after class, I sit there with my sketch in front of me after the art introduction class we just did, some boring exercise about shading that I could have done in my sleep but my eyes aren’t on the paper. They’re on Travis walking down-
I call his name and literally everyone looks back at me. Including Wren. Including a group of Panther Class students who were walking past.
“Can we talk?” I ask, standing up.
Travis nods.
Somewhere in the background, I see Atlas…the dark–haired Twin Alpha looking at our conversation curiously. His arms are crossed. His head is tilted. He’s not even trying to hide that he’s watching.
“Come on.” I grab my bag and gesture to Wren.
“W–what?” She pushes her glasses all the way up to her forehead, blinking at me.
“Let’s go.
Come on.” I’m already passing quickly through the seats, weaving around desks, trying to catch up to Travis before he disappears.
“What is it about?”
“Well.” I swerve past a student who was in my way and stand in front of Travis. “You tell me something about being a White Omega, and let’s not play funny because you know what you said. You said it to get my attention, didn’t you?”
Travis smiles.
“What did you mean by ‘did I know if my wolf is locked up‘? My wolf is not silent. I can hear her. I can feel her stir toward my mat–um, I mean towards everything. You know?”
I almost said mate but caught myself at the last second-
Travis doesn’t react to it.
However, I realize, as we’re moving through the hallway, that everyone is really staying away from the were–druid like they don’t even want to get in his way.
“We should talk in the gaming area.”
“What?”
“It’s a gaming room for Dragon and panther class only.” Wren quickly whispers behind me,
“Okay.”
“No, let’s not- Wren starts but I’ve already said yes to him, and we’re walking toward the elevator

Once the elevator opens. It’s completely different from the whole studious approach of the rest of Wolf Arts. The Dragon gaming area isn’t a classroom. Not a study hall. It’s not even a lounge.
It’s a kingdom of Dark walls. Neon lights. Big screens mounted everywhere, showing fight replays and leader boards and stats I don’t understand. Oh wait…I do understand, the names on the stats are probably the current most powerful werewolf in school but I have no idea how that’s achieved. There’s a pool table. A bar. A section with gaming chairs and massive monitors. Graffiti on the walls and murals on the ceilings.
There are students everywhere. But I guess they’re all really in the top classes because no one looks at like they don’t belong
Travis keeps moving, and I follow. In my peripheral vision, a student in the far corner appears to be smoking from both his nose and ears simultaneously. I decide not to address that. We enter into a lower–lighting area now with a cluster of comfortable couches everywhere, around a coffee table, away from the main noise and turns
“Want a drink?”
“Um. Yeah.” I look at the small refrigerator. “Wren will have one too.”
Wren sits down beside me as Travis opens the refrigerator. Hands Wren an energy drink without asking which one she wants, and she takes it with both hands, looks up at him and her glasses slide down her nose.
“I know you.”
“You…you do?” Wren squeaks.
Travis nods. Then he hands me my drink next.
“Can we just get to it? You said White Omega. What does that mean?”
“Well, first of all.” Travis settles onto the arm of a couch. “They come in white hair. It’s strange that your hair is black.”
I clear my throat. “Okay… so then I’m not a White Omega?”
“No.” He shakes his head. “You are.”
“How can you tell if I don’t have white hair?”
“Well.” Travis leans back. “I’m a were–druid. We just know things. Our wolves sniff out history off people, bloodline, suppression, activation state. And the fact that you’re asking me how I can tell means you genuinely don’t know what you are, Demetra. Which is…unusual. I smell Alpha off you. But something is masking it. And that’s crazy, because Alpha isn’t supposed to be masked.”
“What…Alpha?” Wren looks at me and I have to pretend like I don’t know why he can sniff that.
“How can I have Alpha blood?”
“Oh, so you don’t know your parents? White Omegas are usually women so your mother must have been with an Alpha. Anyway, you’re in the right place. Rockville has the highest number of White Omegas in the country. So if you’re wondering where your mom came from…” He shrugs. “It’s probably here. If you’re not busy tonight, we can go looking. You may just find people that can help–”
“I’m not looking.” I say coldly and Travis stops.
My mother?
I was curious before. Curious about what it meant. But at the mention of this being the place she must have come from? I don’t care anymore. I don’t care to know. I don’t care to find out. I don’t care to go searching for answers about a woman who left before I could remember her face-

Wren looks at me. She knows I’ve been thinking about it ever since I asked her if she knew what White Omega meant.
“You don’t wanna find out? “But you-”
“No.” I cut her off. “I just realized I came here to get inspiration, not find something that isn’t missing.” I look down at Travis where he’s seated and adjust my skirt a bit. “Thanks.”
I start to leave.
“So how are you gonna fight at Mascot?”
I stop. Travis is still sitting on the arm of the couch.
“I don’t like to get in she–wolf business,” he continues. “But Cassie did say she was gonna claw your nose off. Did you call her a loser?”
Suddenly I’m sweating. My palms are sticky around my drink.
“Um-”
“When did she say that?” Wren asks, her eyes wide.
“Does it matter? Listen, white Omegas are one of the most vicious sets of wolves. Most researchers mistake them for gammas most of the time because of how powerful they are. Demetra, you have no idea what you’re saying no to.”
While he’s talking, I think of Amira. My daughter. My little girl with the white hair that that matches mine under this wig. There will come a time when she comes of age. When she taps into her wolf. When she needs to know all that she is. Especially now that she could be a Trybrid technically since her father is Emris. Regardless, my daughter already has that White Omega in her.
This is a chance for me to find out what it truly means.
“And why are you willing to help me?” I squint at Travis. “What’s in it for you?”
Travis smiles. “Simple. I’m tired of watching Cassie remove people from Dragon Class who actually belong here. She does it because they’re pretty and getting attention she doesn’t want them to have, and she does it with her claws, and I find it boring.” He looks at me steadily. “I would be genuinely sad to look at your face and see her signature on it. So I’m trying to prevent that.”
“Hmm.” I squint harder. “And where would we go?”
“To the White Omega pack–”
“They have a pack!?”
“Course they do.” He stands up. “Hit me up when you’re ready.”
He walks over to Wren and opens his hand. Like he wants something.
“W–what?” Wren stammers.
“Your phone. So I can put my number in. And send you a location. Plus time.”
“Oh.” Wren quickly takes it out of her bag and hands it to him. Her fingers are trembling and her face is the color of a
tornate.

“So…” Travis finishes typing. “A date?”
“It’s not a date.” I correct him quickly and my phone rings at my side,
Emris. I ignore it.
“It’s a date.” Travis smiles at Wren. Then he looks back at me.
“Oh and one more thing. If you actually win against Cassie at Mascot, you’ll be moved to the Dragon dorm.”
“You guys have a separate dorm?”

“It makes more sense than housing us with the general population. We’re kind of dangerous so we stay in the staff housing building. Same building as the professors. That professor you hate stays there too.” Travis says it with a wink.
“L–Lake?”
He just chuckles instead of answering.
“Oh. And Laura Hale stays there too!” Wren snaps her finger.
“Who is that?”
“Her parents are the owners of Wolf Arts. Well, part owners of the school. I think her family founded Wolf Arts.”
“You’re talking about my sister right in front of me?”
“Laura Hale…is your sister!?!?”
“Well. It’s crazy how many people know her family owns Wolf Arts but doesn’t know that family is Crest Ville.” Travis bites his lip at Wren.
“Wow! So…so…your sister is really Professor Laura Hale!?”
“He already said yes. Why are you asking again?” I say.
“Demetra, you don’t understand! Laura Hale is literally the best graduating student in the whole of Wolf Arts. And she’s a Trybrid!”
“What!?”
Now I’m shocked. A female Trybrid?
