I turn off the Maybach engine and think about the conversation I just had with Emrit. It’s like I want to be upset with horr but he’s so perfect, there’s no need to be.

I push my hair out of my face and take off the seatbelt. I’d told the prison, wards I’d be coming today since its visitation day. I didn’t even know it was possible to send a message from wolf prison. But since Elena could have done it to anyone in the pack house but decided on me, it means she has something to say.

“Luna Demetra, this way.”

I follow the guard inside and take a look at the cold, dull colors. The walls are gray. The floors are gray. The air is gray…. everything about this place says lonely and permanent.

Emris never told me which prison facility but Silver can be talked into giving things up eventually, ever, when he’s been instructed not to. Emris chose somewhere remote and high–security…miles of beach and dense woods surrounding it, no documented escapes.

Even if one were to escape, the security system from one pin point to another would have you caught. Not to mention that they have security systems in the woods too…one could step on tracking devices and be caught!

Layered tracking systems, inmate wristbands that can’t be removed, sensors buried in the woods themselves.

I take a seat and wait for the officer. I try not to look too much around. I just know I can’t be here for long enough. Finally, 1. hear the prison guards talking and I see Elena coming forward.

She’s wearing an orange scrub. No, way…her blonde hair is cut. All the way cut and uneven, as if her time here has already gotten her into fights. One look at her face and believe me when I say that luxury luna pack glow is nowhere to be found. It’s been replaced by dry, bitten cracked lips.

I guess no more designer lip balms at his facility. She has some healed cuts on her face and oh, there’s that condescending look.

Elena starts clapping and laughing. Her voice is raspy like she has beer for breakfast.

I exhale and cross my legs. I really thought she was gonna tell me something I’ve never heard before. Not this same damn. jealous conversation.

Elena pouts. It’s not cute.

“I’ve been trying to get a hold of Emris.”

I stand cause I’m ready to leave.

“Okay, yell it to the prison cells-”

I get up and pick my purse from the counter before I remember the Luna chapel.

“I was also wondering what you would want me to tell the ladies at the Chapel about what happened to you.” I sling my purse over my shoulder. “Obviously, I’m not gonna tell them the true crime. But now that I think about it, I’ll give them something worse, since your wolf is still evil-”

“DEMETRA!”

Elena’s eye are shaking like she wants to burst out crying but I don’t feel sorry for her.

“See you in… eighteen years?” I look around the facility once again. “Moons, it’s really cold in here, you know? No luxury shampoos, no robes, no platinum card to shop the world, no Luna vacations. I’ll make sure to take the kids on all of those, of course. With Emris but I want you to spend the next eighteen years imagining us as one big family.”

“DEMETRA!”

She bangs her hand against the counter but that’s the last of it for me.

Just as I’m about to leave, she bangs her hand again

“Happily ever after?” Her voice cracks. “You really think that’s how it’s gonna turn out for you!? Stupid bitch, shit is about to happen in that Covenant Pack. You have no idea.
