Sloane didn't care what Miles wanted to say to her.
The surgery took six grueling hours. Once it was over, Zachary was transferred to the ICU. Worried sick, Evelyn and Miles immediately sought out Sloane to get the surgical results and post-op care instructions.
Sloane was thoroughly exhausted.
She patiently explained the situation to them. "He'll be monitored in the ICU for one to three days. If he recovers well, he'll be moved back to the VIP suite. You should look into hiring professional nursing aides now. With his condition, it's best to have a two-shift rotation. Of course, if you don't trust the aides, you two can take turns caring for him. Discuss it amongst yourselves."
Anxious, Evelyn immediately rushed off to find nursing staff.
Miles simply told Sloane, "Thank you for your hard work." Seeing her obvious fatigue, he didn't dare bother her further.

When Sloane finally returned home that day, Logan Lennox was nowhere to be found. She only saw a note left on the table: *I'm heading out for an assignment. Take care.*
It was dated three days ago.
Sloane stared blankly at the note for a long moment.
The handwriting was bold and powerful, commanding in style—just like the man himself.
Why couldn't he think straight? Why did he insist on working in such shady, gray-market industries?
Perhaps it was because he traveled abroad, but every time Logan left on an assignment, her smart bracelet lost his signal entirely.
It was as if he ceased to exist.
After standing there in a daze, she heard the doorbell ring.
It was her neighbor, Macy.
Macy was wearing a cute, black ruffled dress with a burgundy bow in her hair, looking like a whimsical fairy.
"You're finally back," Macy said.
"I had surgeries these past few days, so I stayed at the hospital. Did you need something?" Sloane asked.
"Today is my birthday! I wanted to invite you both over for cake, but I knocked a few times and no one was home."
