Who Knew My Assigned Mechanic Husband Was a Big Shot? novel Chapter 129

Sloane didn't even spare it a glance, continuing to eat the simple meal from her own tray.

All these years, and economy-class airline food hadn't improved one bit. It was still the same bland rice and braised chicken, paired with a small packet of pickled vegetables.

Seeing that Sloane was completely ignoring him, Miles didn't dare attempt conversation again.

Once she finished eating, Sloane leaned back in her seat and closed her eyes to sleep.

He wasn't sure if she was actually asleep, but when Miles turned to look at her, he was captivated by her stunning profile.

Her radiant complexion and stunning features were flawless. The slope of her brow and the delicate line of her nose created a striking profile, radiating an aloof, breathtaking elegance.

She sat by the window, framed against a backdrop of pure, endless blue sky.

Miles stared, entirely mesmerized.

Why hadn't he met her sooner?

The plane touched down at the Aurelia airport.

After landing, they had to transfer to a bus heading for Bayport.

Sloane and Zoe boarded the bus together, and moments later, Miles stepped on as well.

Zoe tactfully offered her seat so Miles could sit next to Sloane.

After all, she had enjoyed a luxurious first-class experience and a wonderful nap thanks to him. Whatever drama was going on between the two of them, they needed to hash it out.

Sloane glanced at Miles. "Why are you on this bus?"

"I'm heading back to base. This happens to be the route," Miles replied smoothly.

Could it really be such a coincidence?

"Your base is near the coast?"

"It's on an island," Miles corrected. "Strictly speaking, I'm not in the Navy. It's a joint forces command center." He puffed his chest out slightly, looking incredibly proud.

Sloane rolled her eyes.
