He wasn't in the mood for an apple, so he pushed the bag aside.
Seconds later, the maritime emergency alarm blared.
"Major Lennox, we have a situation at sea!"
Logan absorbed the briefing and instantly mobilized his men.
Ten minutes later, the Sea Dragon Elite Unit was airborne in a tactical helicopter.
The Sea Dragons were the tip of the spear for naval special operations.
They handled high-risk missions: maritime counter-terrorism, convoy escorts, hostage rescue, special reconnaissance, target designation, and sabotage operations.
As the helicopter tore through the sky, the assault team prepped their weapons, faces grim and focused.
They arrived over the target zone shortly after.
A civilian fishing vessel had been hijacked by armed pirates. There were ten hostages on board.
Using the helicopter's PA system, Logan barked orders in English to draw the pirates' attention while simultaneously orchestrating the breach over the comms.
"Alpha team, fast-rope to the bow. Bravo team, initiate underwater infiltration at the stern. Breach in exactly three minutes."
Three minutes later.
Ropes dropped like lightning. Alpha team operatives slid down, instantly pressing themselves flat against the hull. At the stern, the water broke silently as Bravo team, armed with suppressed rifles, ghosted over the railing.
"Execute!"
The blinding white flash of stun grenades engulfed the deck. The pirates screamed, clutching their eyes.
Alpha team kicked the doors in, dropping pirates with precise rifle-butt strikes to the skull. Bravo team tackled the stragglers, the sharp *click* of zip-ties sealing their fate.
Down in the cargo hold, the hostages huddled in the corner, trembling.
In less than ten minutes, every hostage was secured and transferred to the extraction boat.
The hijackers were all lined up on their knees.
Logan dispatched part of the team to escort the hostages back, remaining behind with a small detachment to interrogate the prisoners.
He spoke flawless, icy English, questioning them one by one.
He was looking for something buried beneath this simple piracy.
A clue to a brutal incident from ten years ago.
