Who Knew My Assigned Mechanic Husband Was a Big Shot? novel Chapter 164

Sloane honestly wasn't that interested in his private life.

After all, she hadn't even met the man yet.

The event soon began.

The garrison's family activities were designed not only to encourage families to support their households but also to foster a deeper understanding of the military's mission, strengthening the bond between the troops and their loved ones.

There were plenty of activities.

They had parent-child games, couple interactions, and an awards ceremony honoring outstanding family members.

As Sloane watched, a pang of envy tugged at her heart.

She thought being a military spouse seemed like a beautiful thing.

The man protected the country, while she held down the fort at home.

It was a shame...

Her thoughts drifted back to Logan Lennox.

A bitter ache swelled in her chest.

When the event wrapped up, the staff began distributing groceries like rice and pantry staples, along with cash gift cards to all the families.

Sloane felt completely out of place accepting anything. She tried to leave empty-handed, but Director Sarah Miller grabbed her arm.

"You absolutely must take these home. It's a token of appreciation from the garrison."

Sloane tried to refuse, but Sarah forcefully shoved the bags into her hands. It turned into a chaotic tug-of-war, exactly like relatives forcefully passing back and forth red envelopes during the holidays.

But since Sarah managed the garrison's logistics, she was strong and unyielding. Sloane inevitably lost the battle.

Now burdened with the gifts, Sloane felt far too guilty to take them back to her dorm. She asked Sarah, "Could you tell me where the Major lives?"

Sarah was busy handing out more gifts and answered absentmindedly, "He's on the top floor of the residential building, the room on the far right."

Sloane decided to drop the items off for him.

She wasn't a real family member, so she had no right to enjoy these perks.

The residential building had seven floors.

However, the elevator only went up to the sixth. Accessing the seventh floor required facial recognition.
