Who Knew My Assigned Mechanic Husband Was a Big Shot? novel Chapter 54

"No way..." Serena thought Logan was just messing with her again, but she instinctively glanced to her left.

She nearly passed out.

There was actually a grotesque, hyper-realistic eye embedded in the wall, staring directly at her.

If Lily hadn't been holding her up, she would have collapsed onto the floor.

"You grease monkey, I—I'm going to make you pay for that!"

Sloane hadn't expected Logan to have such a childish, teasing side.

She shook her head. "Enough messing around. Let's find the clues."

However, they scoured all the instruments and tools on the walls, and there was absolutely nothing.

The room grew noticeably colder.

Ominous sound effects began echoing through the speakers—howling wind, babies crying, women sobbing—creating an overwhelming sense of urgency and psychological pressure.

Terrified, Serena began lashing out. "Hey! You're the only man here. Think of something, will you?"

Logan replied coolly, "I'm just a grease monkey. What do you expect me to do?"

"You..."

At that moment, Sloane turned her attention to the body on the autopsy table. She walked over and yanked the white sheet back.

Worried about her, Logan immediately stepped to her side to shield her.

"Since there's nothing on the perimeter, the clue must be inside the corpse," Sloane deduced.

Serena and Lily cautiously leaned in to take a look.

The body was completely bare except for a distinct Y-shaped surgical incision stitched across its chest.

Its skin was a sickly grayish-blue, its mouth hung open, and its eyes were shut tight in a horrific, agonizing grimace. The craftsmanship was nauseatingly real.

Serena gagged and threw up on the spot.

Sloane stared at the 'corpse' for two seconds before turning to Logan.

Incredibly, Logan read her mind. "Do you need to operate? I'll assist."

"Hand me the scalpel."

Logan quickly grabbed a scalpel from the wall and handed it over.

Sloane positioned the blade over the Y-shaped incision and sliced it open.

The synthetic skin peeled back to reveal the interior. It wasn't filled with fake organs, but rather silicone modules. Each module was stamped with a different symbol.

"Just as I thought. A cipher code!"
