Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 233

Patricia helped Naomi back to their dorm, tidied up a bit, and then went to bed.

Luther kept messaging her, and while Patricia was initially happy about it, for some reason, Lennon's words kept popping into her head after just a few exchanges.

Although she didn't believe Luther was a bad guy, she remembered how Naomi always said Lennon was a very sharp man, and she couldn't help but feel a flicker of doubt.

Lennon had no reason to lie to her. He had picked up Naomi and given her a ride back too. Maybe he wasn't such a bad guy after all.

So... maybe what Lennon said was a genuine warning?

But she had been so rude to him...

Patricia was now torn.

Her replies to Luther became curt, and eventually, she just sent a "Tired, going to sleep, goodnight" and stopped responding altogether.

She tossed her phone aside and, despite her jumbled thoughts, slowly drifted off to sleep.

Meanwhile, back at the bar, Luther keenly sensed the shift in Patricia's attitude and couldn't help but curse under his breath.

The others saw his expression and hurried over to ask what was wrong.

Luther explained the situation, frowning. "It’s like Patricia became a whole lot smarter overnight."

"Could it be that guy who picked them up said something?"

"That guy looked like a corporate type. He probably saw right through us."

Luther's heart skipped a beat, but he quickly dismissed it. "How is that possible?"

If he saw through us, wouldn't he have said something earlier?

"She's probably just tired. It is getting late."

Luther agreed.

From what he knew, Patricia's sleep schedule was irregular, but because Naomi's was so consistent, Patricia sometimes went to bed early too.

"Whatever, let's just keep partying."

Luther was very confident in his charm. With a simple-minded girl like Patricia, even if someone had planted a seed of doubt, a few sweet words from him would smooth everything over.
