Chapter 544 Waiting Outside Headquarters.
“Are you the only one who came back this year?” Hugo asked.
Thora nodded lightly. “Yes.”

The moment she answered, Hugo felt like he had asked something stupid. Graduating from the military academy in just two years was already a miracle. He could hardly expect that miracle to happen again.
Thora didn’t look all that different on the surface, but Hugo could clearly feel that she was far stronger than before. He let out a quiet laugh, his heart full of satisfaction. As expected, Thora had not let him down.
He found himself looking forward even more to what it would be like when the other members of Wolffang returned from the military academy, and his thoughts also drifted to Felix, who had been admitted last year. That gave him even more reason to hope for the future.
“I told you before, any officer who graduates from Blue Star Military Academy will be promoted to at least general rank,” Hugo said gravely, his tone leaving no room for doubt. “You were already a major general. I’ll notify the Lycan King first and discuss your promotion with him. Unless something unexpected happens, the official order should come through within two days.”
He paused, then continued, “As the youngest general currently serving, and the first person to graduate from Blue Star Military Academy in only two years, I want you to attend the military’s highest-level conference in two days. The military needs someone like you as an example, someone to set the standard.”
The speech sounded formal, but it was also perfectly reasonable. Outstanding role models were meant to be recognized. That was true anywhere.
Thora frowned slightly, her refusal clear. “I prefer to keep a low profile.”
Hugo was immediately displeased. His tone carried both teasing and seriousness.
“Thora, you’ve changed. That’s not what you used to say when you talked about becoming a Grand Marshal.”
Her expression shifted faintly. “If I don’t absolutely have to go, then there’s no need for me to show up at something like that.”
And she was right. Wolffang Unit was different from the rest of the military. They answered directly to the Lycan King, so unless necessary, she had no need to attend military conferences. It wasn’t arrogance. It was simply that, given the choice, she would rather spend that time inspecting the troops under Wolffang’s command.
Hugo knew her temperament well enough. Though he was somewhat dissatisfied, he still relented.
“Alright, then.”
No matter what, having Thora remain with the military was enough. Besides, several of the others behind her were still studying at the academy. When the time came, picking any one of them as a model example would work just as well.
After that, Thora and Hugo discussed the current state of Astralis’s Wolffang Unit, as well as the situation of Wang Hao and the others who were still abroad. Only then did the conversation finally come to an end.

Chapter 544 Waiting Outside Headquarters:
Finished
Even before Thora had left, Wolffang Unit had already established subordinate forces and gradually expanded them. Most of those soldiers had transferred in voluntarily from other units. As long as they could pass the basic assessment, they were allowed to join, though the pass rate was extremely low. Thora had already known before leaving that among the earliest members were some of the military scions who had fought alongside her in the past.
As for Harvey and the others, they had been sent overseas on assignment a month ago and were originally supposed to return home a week later. Once they learned Thora was back, they would probably rush back within the next few days.
“Oh, right. General Stanton, I’d like to request a transfer order.”
Something had suddenly occurred to Thora.
“A transfer order for who?” Hugo asked, puzzled.
“Ryan,” she said, her voice deliberate.
Hugo had thought it was something far more serious. The moment he heard the name, he laughed.
“Don’t worry. Leave that to me.”
He had already heard Tony mention Ryan before. Now that Thora was asking for him personally, Ryan’s current superior would have no reason to stand in the way.
Thora nodded. “Thank you, General Stanton.”
Hugo waved a hand, as if to say there was no need to be so polite.
With that, Thora prepared to leave. Hugo had wanted to keep her a little longer. It had been two years, and he still wanted to talk. But Thora clearly had no intention of indulging him. After a brief goodbye, she turned and walked out.
Hugo clicked his tongue, but the moment he thought again of the fact that Thora had graduated from Blue Star Military Academy in only two years, excitement surged through him all over again. He quickly got to his feet and sent a message to the Lycan King.
This girl had really come back without a word, without even giving anyone a heads-up. Damn it. She really is impossible not to like.
When Thora stepped out of military headquarters, she didn’t fake a car. Instead, she chose to walk slowly beyond the military compound,
She lifted her eyes and looked around at everything. The familiar land and sky gave her a sense of closeness she had never felt anywhere else.
Astralis. Maybe this was what belonging meant.
A rare, faint smile touched her lips. But when she turned her head, her gaze suddenly fixed ahead. A familiar sports car was parked not far away. Then the door opened, and a familiar figure stepped out, leaning lightly against the car.
He was dressed in a white suit, elegant and noble. Warmth softened his handsome face, but his eyes were locked firmly on her.
