Finished.
Tonight, the highest-end hotel under Skybound Group in Starlance City was closed to ordinary guests. It was reserved for honored invitees only.
Everyone in the top circles of Starlance City’s werewolf elite knew why. This was a welcome banquet personally arranged by Alpha Darius of Nightclaw Pack for Alpha Thora of Silverleaf Pack on her return to Starlance City. Everyone invited belonged to the highest tier of werewolf nobility.
A black sedan rolled to a smooth stop in front of the hotel. The car door opened, and a handsome middle- aged man in a black suit stepped out first, the pressure of a top-tier Alpha coiling around him.
At his appearance, everyone present instinctively sucked in a breath. It was Preston, the former Alpha of Nightclaw Pack.
Ever since Darius had succeeded as the new Alpha of Nightclaw Pack, Preston and the former Luna, Evelyn, had quietly withdrawn from the public eye. But though they no longer appeared often, their legend had never faded. More than 20 years ago, the two of them had once been names known throughout all of Starlance City.
Preston walked around to the other side of the car and opened the door like a gentleman, then raised a hand to help an elegant, poised woman step out.
She was graceful and refined, with an innate noble bearing that spoke for itself. No one needed an introduction to know that she was Preston’s mate, Evelyn.
The moment the guests saw them, everyone stood respectfully and lowered their heads in greeting.
“Mr. Blackwood. Mrs. Blackwood.”
Preston gave a slight nod in acknowledgment, his expression steady/Evelyn smiled warmly, her tone poised and gracious. “Thank you all for coming. Please, no need for formality. Enjoy yourselves.”
“Yes, ma’am,” the guests answered respectfully.
A little later, several more cars arrived one after another.
“General Green!”
Someone immediately stepped forward to receive them as Marlon emerged from his car with his dragon- headed cane in hand.
At the same time, Evren stepped out as well. Their eyes met. They exchanged a tacit nod and entered the hotel side by side.
Inside the ballroom, the number of guests gradually increased. Soft music drifted beneath brilliant lights and the scent of fine wine. People gathered in small groups, chatting animatedly, yet their eyes kept straying
toward the staircase.
Everyone was waiting for the hosts of the evening-Darius and Thora.

Chapter 548 The Banquet for Her Return
Most of the people there had only heard stories about Thora. Very few had ever seen her in person.

This missing woman whom Darius had waited for over two years. This rumored mixed-blood who had once been said incapable of even awakening a wolf, yet had somehow become the formidable Alpha of Silverleaf Pack.
What exactly did she look like?
After a long while, the music in the hall gradually softened, and every eye turned at once to the top of the spiral staircase.
Thora had just started to walk straight down when Darius suddenly extended a hand beside her. She paused for the briefest moment, then remembered that this was the sort of gesture expected at a formal occasion.
There was laughter in Darius’s eyes as he called softly, “Thora.”
She placed her hand on the back of his, and he guided her slowly down the stairs.
Darius had attended events like this for years, and every movement he made was easy and elegant, perfectly measured. Thora, on the other hand, was clearly less used to such occasions. As a soldier, she naturally preferred swift, efficient strides, but she still did her best to match Darius’s pace and slow herself down.
Inwardly, she couldn’t help complaining. It’s only a staircase. Why slow down this much? Is being this tedious standard at events like this?
Despite that private grumble, the sight of the two of them descending together sent an immediate stir through the entire ballroom.
Darius wore a white formal suit, and to match Thora’s black gown, he had deliberately chosen a black bow tie. Black and white, handsome and striking, they looked astonishingly well-matched in both appearance and presence.
Darius’s face carried a gentle smile, warm and full of tenderness. Beside him, Thora wore light makeup that only made her features look more exquisite. Her cool gaze swept over the crowd like that of a queen looking down from above, distant and noble.
Darius seemed like a knight at her side, cold and warm all at once, still yet somehow in motion. Perfectly balanced. They looked meant for each other.
Rumors had long circulated that Alpha of Nightclaw Pack and Alpha of Silverleaf Pack had already been engaged. But soon after that, Thora had vanished without a trace, as though she had disappeared from the world.
Many had speculated that she was simply gone for good, and that the marriage between the Blackwoods and the Greens couldn’t possibly hold. In the eyes of quite a few people, Silverleaf Pack’s Greens had always seemed to be marrying up into Nightclaw Pack’s Blackwoods. Sooner or later, they assumed, the engagement would fall apart.
Others had been curious about where Thora had gone for the last two years. Not a single whisper had ever leaked out. The only rumor was that she had entered military service, though no one knew whether that was
true.
And now, Darius, who had always kept a low profile, had personally arranged such a grand banquet for no reason other than welcoming back his future mate.
