Selene was stunned by the slap. She had been pampered since she was a pup and rarely heard harsh words. There were few times when she was slapped.

“Seren, how dare you hit me!” Selene was angry and raised her hand to hit back.

As she lifted her hand, I grabbed it.

I narrowed my eyes at Selene, my voice laced with fury.”Selene, if you insult Aurora one more time, I swear I’ll

make you regret it!”

Selene felt scared by my intimidating presence. For the very first time, she thought I might be qualified to be a Luna, her cousin Alpha’s mate.

I had played the role of a coward for so long that every one in the Pack all believed I was not enough to be a Luna.

She instinctively stepped back in fear.

I didn’t want to stay any longer.

Selene’s insults to Aurora and Lucian’s indifference had deeply hurt me.

I left the Pack’s infirmary. I had several missed calls from Jace and messages of concern from him.

I called Jace back. I didn’t get to the main point right away and just mentioned some minor details to Jace.

I reassured him, then hung up.

The Pack’s infirmary was an hour’s drive from Ravenswood Apartments.

I arrived almost at ten o’clock in the evening.

I sent Jace a message, saying I was safe, put my phone in my bag, and started walking home.

As I walked on a narrow trail, a large hand suddenly reached out, covered my mouth, and dragged me in.

I was startled. “Oh My!” I struggled fiercely, but the man was too strong, so I couldn’t get loose.

No one heard me. I ran hard, but in my panic, I twisted my ankle as I ran to the lighter place and fell. A sharp pain hit me. My leg was cut.

Ignoring the pain, I tried to get up and run.

The man dragged me back. In pain, I scratched the man’s hand.
