Chapter 128 Amber’s Desperate Scheme
“Go ahead.
Stella set down her racket and gestured for him to continue.
Jasper walked over as well.
“Mr. Moore.”
He nodded once, signaling for Cody to proceed
Noticing Stella hadn’t touched the coffee, Jasper quietly asked Lily to bring her a cup of milk instead
“I looked into Michelle. Her death seems suspicious on paper, but she’s definitely dead.”
A small smile played at Stella’s lips. That woman had skill. She liked opponents like that.
“Stop the investigation for now.”
“Stella. What are you thinking?”
She turned to look at him, a faint smile still on her face. She took the milk he offered. sipped it–sweet Just how she liked it.
“From what I’ve gathered, Michelle didn’t die in that fire years ago. I think she helped Amber. Maybe even orchestrated what happened to my mother.”
Jasper’s pupils contracted. “Investigate. Dig deeper.”
He’d considered many possibilities over the years. Never this one.
I’ll head out now.”
Let me walk you.”
‘Don’t bother.”
‘Stella. Will you come again?”
“We’ll see.
Milk in one hand, she raised the other in a small wave. “Take your medicine. On time”
“I will.”
Jasper smiled again.
Cody exhaled quietly.
For years, Jasper had forgotten how to smile–until Stella appeared.

The moment Stella disappeared from view, his expression shifted. The warmth drained from his face, replaced by something cold, distant. His voice dropped.
“Update on the serial killer?”
“Here’s his file.”
Cody felt the temperature in the air drop. “Mr. Moore. How do you want to handle this?”
“Creative with torture, was he?”
Jasper closed the file. When he spoke, his voice was ice–ancient, unthawing. “Whatever he did to those children. Do it to him. A thousand times.”
“Understood.”
“Don’t let Stella find out.”
“Of course.”
Cody thought, silently, that the psycho would probably wish he’d never been born.
Between Jasper and Elias both hunting him? The man didn’t stand a chance.
*******
At Moore Manor.
Felix had only been awake a short time. Leo had just left when Amber appeared at his bedside, weeping.
“Dad. Thank God you’re alright. If something happened to you, they’d throw me out on the street.”
“Who would dare?”
Felix’s jaw tightened. Mark’s defiance still stung.
“Dad, back when Moore Group was struggling, I sold most of my shares to help keep it afloat. Now I only hold one percent. If something happens to you–how will Sienna and I survive?”
Felix stayed silent.
Amber’s tears came harder.
“Mom died so young. So tragically. You’re all I have left, Dad. And now you’re sick. Sienna’s reputation is destroyed because of Stella. I have no one else. If something happens to you–what will I do? What will she
do?”
“I’ll fix it.”
A small smile flickered at the corner of her mouth. “Sienna was publicly humiliated by Lucas. She can’t go back to that world now.”
“Put her in Moore Group.”

Her heart leaped. “Will Mark agree?”
‘He wouldn’t dare refuse.”
‘Dad. The way Jasper acts–he’d hand the whole company to Stella if he could. Which means handing it to he Shaws.”
‘Don’t worry. I won’t let that happen. Have the lawyer come tomorrow.”
He’d promised her a secure life. He intended to keep that promise.
‘Okay.”
Amber smiled faintly.
Once Moore Group was in her hands, being thrown out of the family wouldn’t matter at all.
News of the restorative cream auction spread fast. Society women went into a frenzy.
Tickets a hundred thousand each–sold out in seconds.
Stella scrolled through the online chatter and smiled. Efficient.
Kid.”
The Master Healer waved from across the arrivals hall. Stella walked over and smoothly took charge of his
uggage.
New suit. How do I look?”
She gave him two thumbs up. “Sharp.”
Obviously.”
For a man in his eighties, the Master Healer carried himself like a kid half his age.
‘Master. The auction’s in two days. You really think she’ll show?”
