Chapter 129 Tiffany’s True Identity

Amber couldn’t quite believe it. A cream that could make your face look like you’d walked through a Facetune filter? If that really existed, people would literally kill for it.
“You’ll understand once you try it.”
“I heard there are only three bottles this time. Highest bidder wins.”
Amber was starting to get curious. Maybe even tempted.
“By the way…”
The woman glanced around, then leaned in closer, her voice dropping. “Dad’s shares should all be transferred to me by now.”
“That’s all you’ve got?”
Amber’s shoulders sagged slightly.
Becoming the largest shareholder of Moore Group–she thought that was pretty significant. Why did her mother always make her feel small?
‘Have you made plans for Sienna yet?”
“Plans? What kind of plans?”
Amber looked genuinely confused.
Lately, both she and her daughter had been treated like social pariahs. Who in high society would even consider marrying Sienna now?
And she certainly wasn’t about to settle for anyone beneath the Moore family’s standing.
“You’re a fool.”
Amber lowered her head and said nothing.
“Go after whoever you want. Is that really so hard?”
“But-”
She wanted to say, “That’s Elias Cross.” How exactly was she supposed to go after him?
It had been nearly impossible to get close to him before. Now? With everything that had happened?
“Use your head.”
The look of disdain on her mother’s face stung more than Amber wanted to admit.
Her mother slid a small box across the table and stood. “I’m leaving.”

And just like that, she was gone.
Amber watched her retreating figure, something hollow settling in her chest. She opened the box- instructions inside. She tucked it quickly into her bag.

Stella had barely stepped through the door when Tess followed close behind.
“Stella. Major discovery.”
They hadn’t seen each other in a while. Tess had been deep in the investigation, chasing down every thread from years ago.
Tess grabbed a drink from the fridge and downed half of it in one long pull. Then she spotted the Master Healer. Her face went from surprise to delight in an instant.
“Master Healer!”
“Tess. How have you been?”
“Working, you know. Keeps me busy.”
Stella smiled faintly. “I’ll give you a break.”
“No need.”
Tess laughed awkwardly, then caught Stella’s expression and stopped stalling. “Stella. About what happened back then–I found a hole. Nicole being taken to that village? The Moores are connected. Definitely.”
The Master Healer straightened in his chair. “Well? Tell us.”
Tess pulled a stack of documents from an envelope. “Easy, easy. It’s complicated.”
Stella looked at the photo in Tess‘ hand and frowned. “Her.”
The woman from the steak house.
“You know her, Stella?”
The Master Healer frowned too. She looked familiar, but he couldn’t place her. That face had definitely been under the knife more than once.
“Keep going.”
Stella pushed down the flicker of unease.
“Her name’s Tiffany Collins. She’s Amber’s best friend. Tiffany has a housekeeper, Jane, Jane’s the one who sent Nicole’s photo to the village head. She’s also the one who told them to grab Nicole.
“As for who lured Nicole to Jenston? Had to be that Moore housekeeper who died. No proof now–she’s gone–but who do you think gave her orders? Someone in that house.”

Tess tipped back the rest of her drink and set the can down hard.
“We’ve been focused on the Moores this whole time. Completely missed Tiffany. Who’d think someone with no grudge against Nicole would have the nerve to go after the Shaw family’s daughter?”
She took a breath. “Those bastards in the village aren’t lying now. Jane wouldn’t talk at first–but she’s old, used to living well off Tiffany’s money. A little bribe, and she cracked. Wanted to leave something for her family anyway.
“I verified everything. Her trip to the village lines up. The village head’s story checks out. Tiffany suddenly giving her a big payout? Matches.
“But my bank account’s dry now. Can’t even afford phone credit. Car’s on empty. Had to borrow from Gideon just to get here.”
Tess left out the part where she’d made it very clear to Jane’s family–take the money, or things get ugly.
“Stella transferred you ten million.”
Tess couldn’t help the smile that tugged at her mouth. She handed over a voice recorder.
“That’s Jane’s statement. She admits delivering the photo to the village. Not long after, when Nicole ran off with Mr. Moore, they used that timing to lure her to Jenston. You know the rest.”
She didn’t want to make Stella relive those memories.
“So they planned it. From the start. They wanted her sold into that village.”
“Yeah.”
Tess thought about it and felt a chill. Women like that–what kind of grudge drove them to this?
“What about Tiffany’s background?”
“Got it right here.”
She handed over another file. “Tiffany’s a piece of work. She was Mr. Wellington’s obsession–you know, the guy Mr. Cross kicked out of the four prominent families.
“She destroyed his marriage to Miss Cross. Everyone thought he’d marry her after the divorce. Instead, he spent years trying to win his ex–wife back. Didn’t work. Miss Cross moyed on, built an empire, and now she won’t look twice at any man under twenty–five. These days? She’s got money, a kid, young companions when she wants them, and a brother who always has her back. Life was good for her now.”
