The sight of him immediately soured Amber’s mood.

“If only Mom were here. The three of us would be so happy.”

Felix’s chest tightened with guilt. It was his fault. His failure to protect her had cost her life.

“If you want it, I’m buying it.”

“Miss Moore.” Elias‘ voice cut through the room. “You could always ask your own man to buy it for you. Unless you don’t have one? And remind me–what law says a man can’t spoil his girlfriend?”

Gasps rippled through the crowd.

Was this the same Elias everyone knew? His icy reputation was crumbling in real time.

Felix’s frown deepened. He didn’t understand how the younger generation had become like this.

Elias reached for his paddle. Stella stopped him.

A small smile tugged at his lips. He looked at her with something close to awe.
