Chapter 130 The DNA Evidence Arrives

“Now he ran a struggling business, lived alone, and had lost both his wife and his son. A fitting end, Tess thought.
“Since Mr. Wellington wouldn’t marry her, Tiffany set her sights elsewhere–on your uncle.”
Stella blinked.
“Your uncle wasn’t interested. Word is, she tried to sneak into his room once, and he threw her out. Literally. She was hurt pretty badly. Had to get more work done on her face after that. Eventually, she married some older guy–twice divorced, no kids.”
Tess shook her head. It was all so messy.
Stella frowned. “Would someone like that really go after the Shaws just for Amber?”
‘Maybe they’re just that close.”
Stella shook her head slowly. Something didn’t line up. She couldn’t name it, but it felt wrong.
The Master Healer had been staring at the photo the whole time. His eyes were starting to ache.
This woman… plays one, keeps another on the line… Doesn’t that remind you of someone?”
Tess shrugged. “There are plenty of women like that.”
No. I mean–I think she might be Michelle.”
Stella’s eyes widened. “What?”
These eyes. I don’t think I’m wrong.”
Michelle would be in her seventies now. Tiffany looks like she’s barely fifty.”
Her face was badly burned in that fire, I saved it–gave her a new one. One of my best reconstructions. She kept buying my creams for years after that. With good care, she’d absolutely look younger.”
The more he thought about it, the more certain he grew. “Do you have a photo of Tiffany before any surgery? I’d recognize a face I rebuilt.”
‘Let me check.
Tess worked fast. Tiffany had been a well–known socialite in Azure Peak City back in the day. Finding old photos wasn’t hard.
‘It’s her. It’s definitely her.” The Master Healer’s voice rose. “Michelle. When did she become Tiffany?”
“Master? You’re sure?”
“I’m sure. That’s the face I rebuilt. Made it a little nicer while I was at it. How did she change identities?”

Tess slapped her thigh and shot up. “Wait. I think I get it.”
“Tess. You nearly gave me a heart attack.”
“Sorry.”

She sat back down, eyes bright. “Michelle was Felix’s lost love, right? A lost love only works if she’s lost.
Dead.
“She faked her death to secure her daughter’s future.
“Then–probably decided Felix was too old–she wanted someone younger. Someone richer.
“She set her sights on Mr. Wellington. Got surgery to look like this Tiffany person from her past. Planned to take over her life.
“Except Mr. Wellington got divorced but refused to marry her. So she moved on.
“Eventually, she got too old to keep the game going. Settled for an older guy around her real age who’d lost his only child.
“Think about it. Her daughter gets a cut of the Moore fortune. When Felix dies, she inherits everything.
“Tsk. This woman? She’s pure scheming–playing everyone for fools.”
“You writing a novel now?”
Tess pouted. “It’s how those stories go.”
The Master Healer sighed and patted Stella’s shoulder. “Jane’s testimony alone isn’t enough. Even if she confesses–she’s seventy. What kind of sentence does she really face?”
A small smile curved Stella’s lips. “If we confirm she’s the one who hurt my mother, I’ll handle it myself.”
Death was too easy. Making death impossible and life unbearable–that was the goal.
Tess‘ theory sounded wild. But maybe the truth was that complicated. It would explain why Jasper had never found anything all these years.
Who would suspect a dead woman had simply changed her name?
Tiffany–quiet, unassuming, helping her daughter from the shadows–had built something intricate.
Amber resented Nicole for having Jasper’s love. That gave her motive. A twisted one.
It wasn’t impossible. Tiffany on the outside, Amber on the inside, working together.
The first step was proving Tiffany was Michelle.
After that, things would start to fall into place.
“Master. You’re absolutely certain?”
