Stella transferred the funds as she spoke.

Tess grinned so wide it looked like her face might split in half.

This was exactly the kind of boss she lived for. Cold and calculating, but low–key about it. Paid well and fast when you delivered. Never held mistakes against you. Hell, she didn’t just have your back–she cheered you on.

“Master, I want you to meet someone. This is my boyfriend, Elias.”

At that, the Master Healer finally gave Elias a proper once–over.

“Not a chance, Master. Stella will never want for anything.”

The Master Healer nodded. “Let me see your hand.”

Elias hesitated, confused, but held it out anyway. He didn’t expect the Master Healer to check his pulse. For some reason, it made him nervous.

After a long moment, the Master Healer finally spoke, “Everything checks out. You’re good.”

Hearing that, Stella couldn’t help it–she covered her mouth and laughed.

Elias didn’t look embarrassed at all. He took it as the Master Healer’s seal of approval.

He looked at Stella, his gaze burning. “Stella, I’m in perfect health”

“Who would’ve guessed the heir to the Cross empire–the guy who runs his business like a battlefield–had a side like this?”

“He only goes soft for Stella. Everywhere else, he’s still the devil they all say he is.”

The Master Healer didn’t argue. “Let’s go. You’re coming with me to pick out a gift for her welcome dinner.”

“I’m heading in now, Elias.”

Just as Stella reached for the door handle, he pulled her back. The seatbelt clicked as it unbuckled. Elias leaned in, tilted her chin up, and kissed her.

Stella’s eyes fluttered shut. She reached up, fingers threading through the hair at the nape of his neck.

A long moment passed before they finally pulled apart.

“Stella, the Master Healer confirmed it. I’m more than ready

“I’ll… I’ll give you my answer on that. Another time.”

With that, she pushed him away, slipped out of the car, and practically ran.

Watching her disappear, Elias couldn’t help the smile curling at the corner of his mouth. He touched his thumb to his lips, still tasting her.

He dialed Gideon.

“Mr. Cross.”

“Get a shipment of white tulips air–freighted to Azure Peak City for me.”

“Yes, sir.”

Elias pressed his lips together. Out of nowhere, the thought hit him–getting married. Was that too fast?
