Chapter 135 Amber’s Humiliating Purchase
Stella ate her meal in silence.
Her mom was the one person in this entire mess who’d never done a thing wrong. All because Amber couldn’t have the man she wanted, she’d taken it out on her like this.
She deserved to die.
A hundred deaths wouldn’t be enough to touch the hatred burning in Stella’s chest.
“Ring…”
She glanced at the caller ID, and the tension in her jaw eased. “Grandpa.”
“Stella, you busy right now?”
“No.”
‘Come see me tomorrow?”
‘Okay.”
Vincent chuckled warmly. “I had them pick out a few dresses for your welcome dinner. You can try them ɔn.”
‘Sure. Grandpa, how are you feeling?”
‘Much better since I started taking your medicine.”
Vincent’s heart ached, but he didn’t let it show. His son and grandsons had spent half their lives blaming hemselves, torn apart by guilt over what happened to Nicole.
It was time they finally let it go. Time they started living.
‘Stella, I heard your master’s in town too.”
‘Yeah.”
I’d like to take him out myself. Thank him for looking after you, for teaching you everything he has.”
‘Okay. I’ll set it up.”
Stella’s eyes narrowed slightly. The show was about to start.
Tiffany, your time’s running out.
Amber? Everything you’re so proud of? It’s all about to disappear

“What do you mean the check bounced?”

Finisher
Amber stood frozen.
She turned slowly, staring at Felix with confusion written all over her face.
“That check came from me. There’s no way it bounced.”
Felix looked like he was about to blow a gasket. A lousy hundred million was pocket change to the Moore family.
“Mr. Moore, Miss Moore–I’m sorry, but the check isn’t clearing. How would you like to handle the payment?”
Amber had invited a few of her so–called friends over, mostly to rub it in their faces that money was no object. Now this? Humiliating didn’t even cover it.
“Dad.”
“Grandpa, time for your meds.”
Leo stepped in and steered Felix away before anyone could say another word.
Every guest in the room had their eyes on Amber now. And Amber, who cared more about appearances than almost anything, felt the walls closing in.
“Miss Moore. How would you like to settle this?”
Amber’s face went tight.
“Come on, Amber. It’s just a hundred million. What’s the holdup? Something wrong?”
“No way. Don’t you get a hundred million a month as your allowance?”
“You’re an adult. You’re not still relying on Daddy to cover your bills, are you?”
“Or maybe… you don’t actually have the money?”
Amber’s teeth ground together behind a forced smile.
“Please. It’s a hundred million. That’s nothing”
She let out a light laugh. “Give me a minute. I’ll go grab my card upstairs.”
The second she turned, the smile vanished.
Sienna told the butler to keep the guests entertained and followed close behind.
“Mom, what’s going on? Why did Grandpa’s check bounce?”
“No idea.”
Amber headed straight upstairs to hit Felix up for cash, but Leo blocked the hallway.

“Leo. Move.”
“Grandpa just took his meds. He’s resting.”
“Then who’s supposed to pay for this?”
Leo stared at her like she’d lost her mind. “Aunt. You’re buying face cream. And you need Grandpa to front you the cash? How old are you?”
“It’s not just face cream.”
“Then handle it yourself.”
She couldn’t get to Felix, and downstairs the whispers were already spreading.
Rather than lose face, she swallowed hard and swiped her own card.
The moment the payment went through, she felt it like a knife to the chest.
A hundred million. For three jars of cream. Before, it hadn’t seemed like much. But now that it was her money? It stung.
She told herself it was fine. Once Felix was feeling better, she’d get him to transfer over some company shares. That would be worth tens of billions. This was nothing.
She walked back into the room and soaked in the compliments, a hollow smile fixed on her face.
Amber, I heard you were so exhausted yesterday you just passed out in the bathroom. That true?”
Her smile froze.
You should go see that Master Healer. If something’s wrong, you should get it checked out. Falling asleep anywhere like that? That’s not normal.”
What are you trying to say?”
‘We’re just worried. It’s because we care.”
Amber opened her mouth, but nothing came out.
She’d already been played once. Handed money to Stella like an idiot. She wasn’t about to fall for the same
trick twice.
Just thinking about it made her arm ache. Who the hell had set her up yesterday?
