Stella hadn’t finished reading when the post was taken down.
Tess could feel the air around Stella grow colder.

“The story broke shortly after we left,” Tess explained. “Mr. Cross and the others didn’t want you to worry, so they handled it quickly. But the impact is too big–they can’t delete all the posts.”
Tess‘ eyes were cold. She should have burned that village of kidnappers to the ground.
“Shameless media offered money, and those disgusting villagers spilled the details. A thousand dollars per story. Most of them were about your mom.”
Naturally, her mom’s story was targeted–she was famous, and fame meant clicks. These people had no bottom line for traffic. It was outrageous.
“From what we’ve learned, 300 media companies have declared bankruptcy, over 600 journalists have been banned, and more than 900 influencers have had their accounts terminated. Mr. Cross, Mr. Moore, and Mr. Shaw made this happen.”
Tess pulled up the latest trending topics.
“Notorious Kidnapping Village Wiped Out in One Day–No Adults Survived Except Children”
Stella closed her eyes briefly. Who did this? Who wiped out the village?
[User A: You reap what you sow! They were so smug and gloating in those recent exposés.]
[User B: Leaking a victim’s personal privacy–don’t they know that’s illegal?]
[User C: Crying about Stella ruining your home? Your wives were kidnapped! You destroyed their lives and play the victim. Disgusting.]
[User D: Places full of evil like this need a clean–up. Every family has daughters, sisters, mothers. Protecting women starts with me.]
[User E: None of them were innocent. How many people tried to escape, only to be dragged back?]
[User F: Exactly! They’re all guilty.]
[User G: Still, this is too cruel.]
[User H: It’s mercy enough! Why attack Cross Group? Do you have any proof?]
Tess took a deep breath, her voice trembling slightly. Suddenly, those bloody punishments didn’t seem so
bad.

“The incident has caused a huge stir. In half a month, all adults in the village were wiped out–only the children who were away at school survived. The official story is that there was a celebration. Poor hygiene led to poisoning. The village is in a remote mountain area, and there were no good doctors to treat them. The best time for treatment was missed.
“The children have been sent to other counties. Many people suspect Mr. Cross was behind it. Cross Group was attacked by netizens, and their stock plummeted, but it has stabilized now.”
Stella was eerily calm.
Elias had called her every day these past weeks. He never mentioned any of this, only comforting her.
“All netizens who joined in the attacks have been dealt with,” Tess added.
Seeing Stella say nothing, Tess felt sorry for her. Why did they keep reopening her wounds?
She’s so young, yet she holds so much power. Her kindness had lit up many dark lives, but she still got hurt over and
over.
“Head to shore as soon as possible. Return to Azure Peak City.”
“Got it.”
Stella closed her eyes. Something felt off.
Was it really just shameless media, acting without restraint for traffic, that exposed all this?
On the day the ship docked, Stella saw Elias. He looked haggard.
When he spotted her, he opened his arms and gave her a doting smile.
Stella rushed into his arms. “Elias, you’ve been through so much.”
He froze for a second. No matter how fast he acted, he couldn’t outrun the spread of information.
He’d hidden it for so many days, but she still found out.
His long, slender fingers gently stroked her hair, his voice soft.
“I’ve cleared away all the filth. The sky over Azure Peak City is no longer cloudy–it’s clear and blue. Welcome home, my princess.”
They hugged tightly.
“Stella, it’s all over. For the rest of our lives, there will only be happiness,” Elias said, cupping her face. He kissed her forehead tenderly, his eyes filled with affection. “You’re tired, aren’t you? Let’s go home.”
